So, are you wanting partial credit, or what??!? :p

CardinalSM 04-07-2004 02:06 AM

A 50% is better than a 0% :)

CardinalSM 04-07-2004 02:09 AM

But I changed my mind and am going for the 100%!! It is Jean Vincenheller. . . 1 of 2 founders to be initiated, born on July 16, 1978 in Texas and buried in Arlington National Cemetery!!

Geez I'm so smart sometimes I scare myself!

Well, yes, the answer is Jean Vincenheller, but I must deduct points for listing her birthdate as 1978!

CardinalSM 04-07-2004 08:48 PM

ok it was definitely 2 in the morning and I am an idiot. 1878 that's what I meant :) I am the best GM in the world :p wow, this is why I dont have NM meetings too late at night, I would totally confuse them!

NutBrnHair 04-16-2004 02:44 PM

I'm baaaaaaaack!

The official seal of Chi Omega, as seen on each chapter's charter, is:
a.) a likeness of the crest, as designed by founder, Ina May Boles
b.) a likeness of Demeter, drawn by Ina May Boles
c.) a likeness of Persephone, drawn by Christina Morton
d.) a profile of Dr. Charles Richardson, a founder of Chi Omega

KellyB369 04-16-2004 02:53 PM

Yay, you're back!

Unfortunately I do not know the answer though... I'm going to guess 'C'.

NutBrnHair 04-16-2004 02:55 PM

"Close" like in horseshoes

Excellent guess, but sadly...no, not C

xo_kathy 04-16-2004 03:30 PM

B B B B B!!!!!!!

I knew this one without having to even look it up on the national site! (Well, I know it's a female figure on the seal and since Kelly helped me out by picking the other answer with a female in the seal....)

I would say e. I wasn't sure about Patty Disque, but since I'm positive about the others, it must be!

NutBrnHair 04-23-2004 11:03 AM

Yes, it's my favorite "all of the above" answer! Yes, Melanie, Shelley & Jean were all full-time chapter visitors after their respective graduations. Patty visited many chapters as a "part-time" chapter visitor (a position we no longer have).

I'm guessing before I go on the website and look!

NutBrnHair 04-25-2004 10:45 PM

I didn't even realize that I answered you only 1 minute after you posted!

Hmmm...no, sorry...not C. (The badge is older than that.)
HINT: This former S.H. used to live in Huntsville, AL

Isn't it Kirk Bell Hassell? She was a sister from Nu Beta which is the chapter at the University of Alabama... I remember it from education because I am from bama although I am currently in the state with the most active Chi Omega chapters!!

Chi Omega sweethearts

I cannot begin to tell you-all how many Chi-Os I have known
who were pretty, scholarly, fun, good dancers, and great all-around girls.
From a great number of schools--everywhere.
Yep, Chi O is a super outfit!
But....you all know that.
Oh, I have an autographed, framed, picture of Mary Love Collins.
It proudly hangs in my den with my diplomas and brag plaques.
Neat. May you ever thrive!

No, although Kirk had Bama ties...the answer was Elizabeth Orman -- a Theta Gamma (Queens College) initiate, but a resident of Huntsville, AL.

Erik, thank you very much for the kind words. I'm envious of your signed pic of MLC, but very proud that it is in a place of honor among your treasures!

Next Chapter Turning 100

This spring, Iota Chapter at the University of Texas celebrated their Centennial. Which Chi Omega chapter is next in line to turn 100?

a.) Theta Chapter, West Virginia University
b.) Kappa Chapter, University of Nebraska
c.) Alpha Chapter, University of Washington
d.) Omega Chapter, UTopia

xo_kathy 05-05-2004 04:47 PM

Well, according to how we name chapters, it should be:

A) Theta Chapter

But maybe NutBrn is throwing us a trick question....;)

ETA: I didn't even read D!!!! LOL

KellyB369 05-05-2004 05:03 PM

I'm going to agree with Kathy. And I think choice "D" is funny. :p

Myth Garden Statues @ HQ

In the beautiful Myth Garden, located at the Executive Headquarters in Memphis, TN, there are 3 statues. One is of an owl (see below). What are the other two?

a.) Jobelle Holcombe & Jean Vincenheller, founders of Chi Omega
b.) Mary Love Collins & Elizabeth Dyer, both National Presidents
c.) Persephone & Demeter
d.) Mary Ann Fruge', current National President & her brand new baby granddaughter, Rosemary Katherine!
http://shop.chiomega.com/Media/Catalog/cover99.jpg

xo_kathy 05-07-2004 10:30 AM

Well, congrats to Mary Ann Fruge on her granddaughter (will this be a third generation Chi O or is this grandbaby from a son?)!

But I am going with C

I went to HQ in 1997, soon after is was built, so maybe the statues weren't there then, but I feel like I remember statues of the goddesses.....

Well, even if she isn't an "official" legacy, with Mary Ann Fruge as your grandmother, you will probably give Chi O a second look!!!! :)

XOMichelle 05-07-2004 03:54 PM

I would hope so! It would be so cool to be a national president and have your grandchildren choose Chi Omega!

States with lots o Chi-Os

Dear Sisters...we have learned through our trivia thread that the state of Texas is home to the most collegiate chapters (13), but which states are currently tied for 2nd with 11?

a.) California & New York
b.) Alabama & Tennessee
c.) North Carolina & Ohio
d.) Vermont & Connecticut

http://www.chiomega.com/chiomega/abo...apters-map.gif

KellyB369 05-13-2004 04:49 PM

I'm going to guess B. I know we learned this but I cannot remember for sure.

(Are those red dots supposed to represent Chi O chapters?)

Nope, not B (and which state is the chapter where YOU joined Chi Omega, KellyB??) ;)

Yes, more or less...those red dots are active chapters.

KellyB369 05-15-2004 07:37 AM

Well shoot, I was going to guess 'C' but I didn't think NC had 11 chapters.

NutBrnHair 05-29-2004 12:43 PM
