The song below is from Pippin. It was my first real love's favorite musical. We were 19 at the time and had dreams, but some dreams don't work out as hoped. Our lives followed different paths and I had not heard from her in quite some time. Then this weekend I found out that she died when I was deployed in the Army. I did not know, and now I feel rather numb and sad. So this is my tribute to her. A song she used to sing beautifully. Farewell with loveTracy, Adieu.
Peter

My days are brighter than morning air
Evergreen pine and autumn blue
But all my days are twice as fair
If I could share
My days with you

My nights are warmer than firecoals
Incense and stars and smoke bamboo
But nights were warm beyond compare
If I could share
My nights with you

To dance in my dreams
To shine when I need the sun
With you
To hold me when dreams are done

And oh....
My dearest love
If you will take my love
Then all my dreams are truly begun

And time weaves ribbons of memory
To sweeten life when youth is through
But I would need no memories there
If I could share
My life with you

DeltAlum 04-19-2007 09:46 PM

DekeGuy...

What a blow to the gut...

So sorry for your loss.

"The whispered conversations in overcrowded hallways,
So much to say not just today but always...
We'll have early morning madness.
We'll have magic in the making.
Yes, everything's as if we never said goodbye.
Yes, everything's as if we never said goodbye...
We taught the world new ways to dream!"

dekeguy 04-19-2007 10:52 PM

DeltAlum,

Thanks for the kind words. I'm still sort of numb and trying not to be too maudlin, but with limited success. Thinking about a song from Camelot...
Before I gaze at you again...

"Your Eyes,
As We Said Our Goodbyes...
Can't Get Them Out Of My Mind
And I Find I Can't Hide (From)
Your Eyes,
The Ones That Took Me By Surprise
The Night You Came Into My Life
Where There's Moonlight
I See Your Eyes.

How'd I Let You Slip Away
When I'm Longing So To Hold You.
Now I'd Die For One More Day
'Cause There's Something I Should
Have Told You --
Yes There's Something I Should Have
Told You.

When I Looked Into Your Eyes,
Why Does Distance Make Us Wise?
You Were The Song All Along,
And Before The Song Dies,

I Should Tell You I Should Tell You
I Have Always Loved You.
You Can See It In My Eyes.

MysticCat 04-27-2007 09:24 AM

So taunt me,
and hurt me,
Deceive me,
desert me.
I'm yours 'til I die.
So in love,
So in love,
So in love with you, my love, am I.

AlphaFrog 04-27-2007 09:43 AM

This is ridiculous, what am I doing here? I'm in the wrong story.

Some people just accept the world as it is,

Oh yes I am
An innocent man."

"I have sailed the world
beheld its wonders
from the dardinells,
to the mountains of Peru,
But there's no place like London!
I feel home again...
I could hear the city bells ring...
Whatever would I do?
No there's...
No place like London..."

He serves a dark and a vengeful god..."

Why, oh why, oh why, oh --
Why did I ever leave Ohio?
Why did I wander to find what lies yonder
When life was so cozy at home?

Wond’ring while I wander,
Why did I fly?
Why did I roam?
Oh, why oh, why oh
Did I leave Ohio?
Maybe I’d better go …..
O -- h -- i -- o.

Maybe I’d better go home.

I always loved illusion.

I just don't know anymore.

It's too darn hot.
It's too darn hot
I'd like to fool with my baby tonight.
Beak ev'ry rule with my baby tonight.
I'd like to fool with my baby tonight,
break ev'ry rule with my baby tonight,
but pillow you'll be my baby tonight
'cause it's too darn hot,

Sons of toil and danger,
will you serve a stranger,
and bow down to Burgundy?

Actually, I generally prefer Claret.

AlphaFrog 08-03-2007 11:27 AM

To sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark dock,
In a pestilential prison, with a life-long lock,
Awaiting the sensation of a short, sharp shock,
From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block.

A bottle of white, a bottle of red,
Perhaps a bottle of rose' instead.
We've got a table near the street,
In our old familiar place,
You and I -- face to face...

Wunderbar! Wunderbar!
There's our favorite star above.
What a bright shining star,
Like our love, it's wunderbar!

(Somebody must have just seen "Movin' Out.")

Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles,
God took a tailor by the hand,
Turned him around and miracle of miracles,
Led him to the promised land!

When David slew Goliath (yes!), that was a miracle.
When God gave us manna in the wilderness,
That was a miracle too.
But of all God's miracles large and small,
The most miraculous one of all
Is the one I thought could never be:
God has given you to me.

Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles.

(Actually, I saw it quite a while ago in New York and then twice in Denver. I was listening to the CD on the way to work the other day!)

"Soon it's gonna rain,
I can feel it."

"No more questions, please."

MysticCat 08-05-2007 02:06 PM

No more tests.
Comes the day you say, "What for?"
Please -- no more.

I think we need an agent...
That's selling out.
But it's nice to dream.

MysticCat 08-05-2007 05:33 PM

It's really, uh, sharp, don't you think?
You know - black is this year's pink
You deserve each other,
This hat and you,
You're both so smart
You deserve each other,
So here, out of the goodness of my heart.

AlphaFrog 08-05-2007 07:17 PM

This wasn't in the movie.
It really looks like a shower curtain from Target.

MysticCat 08-05-2007 07:26 PM

Thus far a rather uninspiring thing.

This is what you call a "failure face". Notice how it has "failure" written all over it.

"Give me a head with hair,
Long, beautiful hair."

MysticCat 08-05-2007 08:06 PM

High in her tower,
She sits by the hour,
Maintaining her hair.
Blithe and becoming and frequently humming
A lighthearted air:
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-

Agony!
Far more painful than yours,
When you know she would go with you
If there only were doors.

DeltAlum 08-05-2007 09:09 PM

"Let the moment go...
Don't forget it for a moment, though.
Just remembering you've had and "and",
When you're back to "or",
Makes the "or" mean more
Than it did before.
Now I understand-

And it's time to leave the woods."

Daughter number one played The Baker's Wife in a community theatre production and actually ended up marrying the guy who played The Baker. Son was Jack in the same production. His former girlfriend played Little Red.

MysticCat 08-05-2007 09:15 PM

Careful the things you say,
Children will listen.
Careful the things you do,
Children will see and learn.
Children may not obey, but children will listen.
Children will look to you for which way to turn,
To learn what to be.
Careful before you say "Listen to me,"
Children will listen.

As AlphaFrog and I have discussed, "Into the Woods" is one of my favorites.
