Jaleel White is Alive
True or False: Jaleel White will never play Urkel again?
True. Jaleel says he is interested in working behind the camera and wants to establish himself to the world that he is not Steve Urkel. He has even gone on to quote that he would rather "commit suicide" than to play another character like Urkel again, which probably what started the Jaleel White suicide rumor (see next question). True or False: Jaleel White committed suicide after Family Matters ended? False. Jaleel White just finished work on a series for UPN and has other projects he has been working on since Family Matters ended. He is not dead. I found this at urkelnet |

First Christopher Williams and now Urkel! People got too much time on their hands.:( And it's is a big time hoax because Family Matters didn't go off until '99 or '00.
ST, You maybe right that she may be Italian. There was a pic of her in today's paper and she doen't look like she may be of mixed race. But she does have Albert's nose.:o |

BV Buzz 6/5--News on Raz-B of B2K
Life after the boy band B2K hasn't been a cakewalk for Raz-B (nee DeMario Thornton). Things fell apart in Dec. 2003 when Raz-B and group members J-Boog (Jarrell Houston) and Lil' Fizz (Dreux Frederick) parted ways with B2K's manager Chris Stokes and lead singer Omarion (Omari Grandberry). The guys entered into a business partnership agreement with Las Vegas- based CMX Entertainment in Jan. 2004, but that union was short-lived as well.
Two years on, Omarion has released a platinum-selling solo record, and the other three guys are still trying to come into their own. Raz-B, who turns 21 on June 13, said despite the challenges he faced during the ordeal, he wouldn't change a thing. "Transition is life. It was rough and shaky but it was worth it. I wouldn't trade it for a zillion dollars," he said. "It taught me about working with people, taught me how important love was and loyal and how money is and all of that stuff. But I knew the Lord wanted me to walk through that transition to build my character and what not. Now I'm even stronger." Raz shared that it was his relationship with God that helped him cope during the tumultuous times, and that's why he's readying an inspirational album called 'Raz-B: Revealer of Truths.' The CD is being produced by Michael Winans Jr. and executive produced by Michael Winans Sr., of the legendary group The Winans. "This album is about me. I want to stand for truth, and I want to seek the truth out for myself," he said. The project is an independent venture through M & R Productions. However, Raz said that several major labels have expressed interest. In addition to promoting two DVDs that document his post-B2K transition-'Prince & The Wiseman Present: Life After B2K' and 'B2K Unchained'-Raz will star in a forthcoming episode of 'Noah's Arc.' The show airs on the Logo network, the cable channel geared toward the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. The singer couldn't disclose too much about his role, however he did confess that "there wasn't any kissing or anything of that nature." He plays a gay character in the episode, which centers on HIV and AIDS. "It was a very, very positive role. It was to raise the awareness for kids with HIV and the kids who have AIDS. That's our demographic. Fifty percent of those people are our people. I felt like it was a mature decision for me to play a gay character," he said. His performance last July at the Oakland International Black Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Film Festival & Pride Celebration caused speculation about Raz's sexuality. Was he concerned that his role on 'Noah's Arc' would further fuel the rumors? "The rumors and stuff like that, I don't really care. I don't let anything kind of really hold me back. I believe in trying to improve and trying to make a change and some people will look over and see that was a very mature decision, you know, to try and inspire the youth to think different. I kind of got tired of being like, if I got a gay friend I can't hang around them without someone thinking that we're dating or we're doing something together. I just want to let people know that I am a supporter, and I'm a strong supporter and here's the way I'm a show you. I'm not here to judge," he added. 'Noah's Arc' isn't his only acting role either. He'll star in two upcoming movies - an indie film called 'Pieces of a Dream' and 'Rhythm of the Night' alongside Ginuwine, Vida Guerra and former band mate J-Boog. As for J-Boog and the rest of the B2K gang, Raz said they have spoken. "We've talked," he said. "I actually just invited them to come to my benefit concert. I am hosting a benefit concert at the Apollo Theater in October. It's to raise money for the Crystal Life Youth Academy, which is for special children who have been molested and abused and been in foster homes and things like that. My goal is to speak for the children who can't speak for themselves. There was a time in my life when I was a special child. Kids are our future and there are a lot of kids out there who are being misled." Speed Dating Fresh on the heels of the news that her relationship with Atlanta businessman Alan F. Daniels is a wrap, Nicole Murphy (ex-wife of Eddie Murphy) has begun dating again. This time, I hear Murphy is seeing a guy who my source described as a "hot Italian guy that looks like a younger Antonio Banderas." Murphy and her man dined at three in the morning at Mel's Diner on Sunset Boulevard recently. The couple wasn't alone-her gal pals Stacie J. ('The Apprentice') and Daphne Wayans (ex- wife of Keenen Ivory Wayans) were also there. Two other young men joined the group as well, and according to the source, when the check came, "Nicole pulled out a wad of money and paid the bill." Murphy must have made out nicely in her divorce from the 'Dr. Dolittle' star. The one-time model just purchased a new home outside of Hollywood in the valley. She was also spotted posing with her new Ferrari outside of the Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard while 'Best Damn Sports Show Period' host John Salley snapped photos of her. Rumors quickly began that the two were dating. We spoke to a rep for Salley (before Murphy was canoodling with her new boy toy at Mel's Diner) who assured us the two were just friends. "John is still a married man and is a happily married man at that," said the rep. Buzzworthy It was a not-so-love connection when R&B crooner Avant was set up on a blind date with porn star Heather Hunter by King magazine. I hear the two enjoyed one another during the date- there are several jokes I could add right here but I won't-but once the night was over, things got tricky. Apparently Hunter said she felt a connection and would love to see Avant again. The crooner on the other hand said "never again." Feeling embarrassed, Hunter appeared on Wendy Williams' syndicated radio show and said she didn't mean what she said. Maybe Avant wasn't interested in an additional "4 Minutes" with Hunter since word has it he's been dueting with Pussycat Dolls front woman Nicole Scherzinger. Gabrielle Union will star in Tyler Perry's next film 'Daddy's Little Girl.' No, she's not playing Madea's little sister, but instead a successful attorney who falls in love with a janitor that's a single dad with three children. "Hey, I said let me go get some of what's going on there. It's a lot of money being made over there," Union told me about her decision to star in the Perry picture. Released by Lion's Gate Films, 'Daddy's Little Girl' will begin production this summer in Atlanta. Talk about cutting it short. Sources tell us that a two-hour cruise given by track star Maurice Green and hosted by his fiancée Claudia Jordan ('Deal or No Deal') and celebrity photographer Arnold Turner got turned around because of illegal drug use onboard. The cruise left the Port of Long Beach in California and had only been offshore for about 15 minutes before the local coast guard made it return back to land. "It's the shortest cruise I've ever taken in my life," said one passenger. "The captain reminded people that they could not have illegal substances before we left. Someone decided to smoke some weed anyway and they turned the boat around." Singer Eric Benet, Omarosa Manigault and Karrine Steffans were among those on the boat. Look out 'Kings of Comedy' and 'Queens of Comedy.' Christian comics Jonathan Slocumb, Chanita Morris (formerly known as Chocolate), Broderick Rice and Trina "Sister Cantaloupe" Jeffries are about to shoot a comedy special presented by none other than Dr. Bobby Jones. The special is slated to shoot in Atlanta and will air on a major television network, and also be available on DVD. 'Grey's Anatomy' star Isaiah Washington has secured the rights to portray Clarence B. Jones in his life story. Jones served as speechwriter and counsel to Martin Luther King Jr. and has since founded successful financial, corporate and media-related ventures. Can't Say Names… Sources say a certain R&B singing sister has had one too many nose jobs. Said singer had her nose nicked and tucked for the first time many years ago, but now she's obsessed and has had several reconstructions on. The nose now doesn't heal as fast following surgery and doctors say it's because of the amount of times she's had it done. Now she's being advised to not touch her nose again for fear she'll end up looking like Michael Jackson. Patti, Jody Watley, Stephanie Mills, or Jennifer Holiday Frankly Speaking "I always forget that I'm on TV so when someone's looking at me, it really ticks me off. I'm like, 'Why is he looking at me like that? Does he think I'm going to steal something?' Then they'll say, 'I loved you on 'Angel' or I watch you on 'Conviction' and I'm like, 'Oh, yeah.'" - Actor J. August Richards on the price of fame. BV Scene Actor Laurence Fishburne ('Akeelah and the Bee') was spotted at Ivan Kane's latest burlesque production 'Royal Jelly' at the nightclub Forty Deuce in Hollywood. My favorite weathergirl Jillian Barberie, from Los Angeles' 'Good Day L.A.' and the reality show 'Skating with Celebrities,' was also in attendance… Singer Gladys Knight dining in the back room of her restaurant, Gladys Knight and Ron Winan's Chicken and Waffles, in Largo, Md… Angelina Jolie's father, actor Jon Voight('Glory Road'), having breakfast at the Beverly Glen Deli on Beverly Glen Circle in Los Angeles… Diane Keaton ('The First Wives Club') getting off of an elevator after taking her son Duke to the pediatrician's office in Los Angeles. |

LUDACRIS ON COURT WIN AND OPRAH DRAMA
We caught up with rapper-actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, who was in Los Angeles Friday to promote his narration of a new basketball documentary “The Heart of the Game,” due in theaters on June 14. But with his copyright infringement trial having ended in his favor on Thursday, and recent news of Ice Cube jumping into his Oprah issue, the latter topics ended up taking center stage.
“It’s funny because I kinda came out first and aired my opinion,” the artist said of his GQ article about visiting the “Oprah Winfrey Show” to promote his Oscar-winning film “Crash.” Ludacris didn’t appreciate the talk show host making an issue of his rap lyrics when he was appearing on the show as an actor. Additionally, the rapper says his comments defending his lyrics to Oprah were edited out of the show’s final cut. In the wake of Ludacris’ rant about the appearance in GQ, rappers 50 Cent and Ice Cube have come out with similar comments about Oprah and her apparent dismissal of all things hip hop. “Honestly, all I can say is it kind of validated what I originally said,” Bridges said of 50 and Cube’s statements. As previously reported, Cube said there were several opportunities for him to appear on “Oprah,” including the show’s segment on his film “Barbershop” and a show dedicated to the FX series “Black. White.,” which Cube executive produced. Both times, the former N.W.A. member was mysteriously left off the guest list. “For people who don’t know, I wasn’t originally invited to come to the “Oprah Winfrey Show” as a member of the cast of ‘Crash,’” said Bridges. “So in my mind, I was thinking, maybe she has a problem with rappers. There was absolutely no reason, in my mind, why I shouldn’t be invited on with the rest of the cast.” Refusing to take no for an answer, Ludacris said he lobbied hard for the chance to appear on Oprah’s stage alongside his co-stars Sandra Bullock, Terrence Howard, Thandie Newton, Matt Dillon and others. “It took me a long, hard fight to get on the show. This whole show is about ‘Crash’ and not judging people, because this is what ‘Crash’ is about – about intuitions that we have towards one another and [how] we’re so quick to judge. But, I felt like once I got on there, she’s automatically talking about me as a rapper. And I was on there as an actor! So we’re on a show about not judging people and I automatically got judged.” Noting Cube’s infamous quote – that Winfrey has had “damn rapists, child molesters and lying authors on her show” – Ludacris wonders just how low on the scale of society’s miscreants Oprah places hip hop stars. “Like Ice Cube said, she’s had so many different other people on her show, so it makes you wonder, are rappers the worst, the absolute scum, worst people on this earth?” asks Luda. “I can’t help but to think that because I haven’t gotten any proof otherwise.” Despite the disappointment over his appearance, Ludacris says he still “loves Oprah as much as anyone else” and has mad respect for the TV mogul. “Oprah is a great individual. Everything she has accomplished for herself, we all look up to that,” he said. “I felt like she and I disagreed on one issue. And everybody knows that you may have a wife or a husband who you disagree with all the time, but that doesn’t mean you don’t like them or you don’t still have love for them. So like I said, there’s an issue that she and I disagree on. And by Ice Cube and 50 coming out, I see that I’m not the only person who disagrees with her on this particular issue.” Bottom line, Ludacris wants a big ol’ Oprah-sized apology for the way he was treated during the telecast and for the show editing out his comments in defense of his lyrics. “I will say that I respect her opinion for not agreeing with my lyrics, but all I want is for her to respect my opinion,” he sums up. “I just would like for her to admit that she was wrong on this one particular issue.” When asked if he would consider a return visit to the show, should Winfrey ever lift her hip hop ban, the rapper said he would appear under one condition: “I would want it to be a live show.” “To make a point, she might try to have a show with just rappers on there,” he adds. “I just want everybody to know that I’ve been on there and my comments got stripped. So me being invited on there again, who’s to say that whole thing won’t happen again.” Meanwhile, a jury on Thursday ruled in favor of Ludacris and Kanye West in a copyright infringement lawsuit brought against them by New Jersey rap group I.O.F. He told us Friday: “Just to give you a crazy statistic that I found out actually yesterday while we were waiting on a verdict, only 2 percent of all civil lawsuits that come about actually make it to court. So I’m in the 2 percentile. It goes to show that I did not wanna settle out of court.” A jury found that Luda’s 2003 song “Stand Up,” produced by West, did not steal lyrics from I.O.F.’s “Straight Like That.” The rapper says his decision to take the issue to court simply reflects his overall attitude toward naysayers . “I will always stand up for what I believe in, for what I know is right and what I know is true,” he said. “And I wasn’t gonna let anyone get the best of me just by saying I took their song when I know that I didn’t. The only ideas and thoughts that I borrow from are those of my own. It was a long, hard fight, but we came out the winner. I just hope the plaintiffs enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame.” SOURCE: EURWEB |
Patty's 411 Celebrity Report 06/05/06
Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of June 5th, 2006
After a long battle with his health, Singer/Songwriter/Musician Billy Preston has died. The 59-year old entertainer died from kidney failure. He had been in a coma for the past 8 months. Preston had an extraordinary career. He started as child prodigy playing keyboards for Gospel Great Mahalia Jackson, and he was mentored by Ray Charles. He was affectionately known as “The Fifth Beatle” for the work he did with the group early in his career. He played keyboards on the albums Let It Be, The White Album and Abbey Road. He played with The Rolling Stones on their classic song Miss You. He also did organ work on many of The Sly & The Family Stone classics. Preston also wrote Joe Cocker’s most famous song You Are So Beautiful. Billy Preston also had a great solo career with the hits Space Race, Will It Go Round In Circles, Nothing from Nothing and the great love song With You I’m Born Again, a duet with the late Singer Syreeta. We have a tribute to Billy Preston on our wdasfm.com home page. Stevie Wonder is mourning the loss of his mother Lula Mae Hardaway. She passed away last week after an undisclosed illness. At the age of 79, entertainer Eartha Kitt is still going strong. Kitt has been battling health issues most of this year after a recent bout with colon cancer. Janet Jackson looks good! Everybody is talking about Janet Jackson’s body and incredible 60 pound weight loss. In recent photos, she has looked stunning. The naysayers are wondering how she did it. Janet says she lost weight and toned her body through diet and exercise, but skeptics are doubting her story. Some people believe this is another Jackson publicity stunt. Was she wearing a fat suit or clothing all those months letting the paparazzi take pictures of her looking fat? Did she take steroids to aid in her weight loss and toning efforts? Her arms are awesome. Janet has been less than truthful in the past about her life (secret marriages, does she have a teenage child). Janet has a new album coming out in the fall. Right now, with the covers on Us Weekly and JET magazine, she is creating a lot of buzz and looking fabulous to boot. She recently did a photo shoot for Vibe magazine that will come out just in time for the release of her new album. Janet knows how to work the press, and she needs a successful comeback after the boob incident at the Superbowl. There may be changes going on at the ABC talker The View, but don’t look for Gayle King to be a part of the shenanigans. Gayle (Oprah’s best friend) was being courted by Barbara Walters to replace Star Jones on the show. Barbara wants Star off of the show after years of difficult behavior. Plus, insiders say Barbara cut a deal with new Host Rosie O’Donnell to move that plan forward since Rosie and Star don’t like each other. Gayle was interested. She was ready to say yes and step out of Oprah’s shadow. But, Oprah stepped in and stopped it from happening. Oprah told Gayle do not get involved in the show’s madness. If they want to get rid of Star, they will not use Gayle to do it. Oprah feels it’s an underhanded move, and she doesn’t want her best friend caught up in it. Years ago, Barbara wooed Oprah’s protégé Motivational Speaker and Author Iyanla Vanzandt away from her. Iyanla was a featured guest on the Oprah show and was very popular. Oprah had big plans for Iyanla. She wanted to sign her to a syndicated deal, ala Dr. Phil, but Iyanla was impatient and went with Barbara Walters instead. Oprah saw it as a slap in the face because Barbara did not show her professional courtesy by stealing Iyanla. Oprah felt that Iyanla was ungrateful for the opportunity she gave her. Well, the union between Barbara Walters and Iyanla was disastrous. Iyanla’s show only lasted a few short months because of poor time slots and creative differences. At the end, the two women were not even speaking. Oprah never forgot that incident. So years later, when Barbara came knocking on Gayle’s door, Oprah stepped in and urged Gayle not to accept the offer. Iyanla went through hell, and she didn’t want Gayle to experience the same thing. Look for Oprah on June 11th for The 60th Annual Tony Awards on CBS. Her Broadway musical The Color Purple is up for a ton of awards, including Best Musical. Check out these upcoming DVD releases: Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, June 13th; Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail, June 27th; Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Reunion, the movie, June 27th; Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married, with Kelly Price, June 27th; Akeelah and The Bee with Laurence Fishburne, Keke Palmer and Angela Bassett, August 29th; Patti LaBelle will be receiving the 2006 Gamble and Huff Community Partnership Award Tuesday, June 13th at Citizens’ Bank Park right before the Phillies-Mets game. She will be honored in a special ceremony. Actor Jaleel White is the latest celebrity involved in a cruel internet hoax. He is not dead. He is alive and well. There was a rumor going on stating he had died. It is not true. NFL Player Roy Williams recently gave a candid interview about the collapse of his engagement to Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child. The wedding was set, the gown picked out and the invitations were ready, but Roy says he realized they didn’t know enough to get married. He says they barely knew each other, and it was going too fast. What a smart decision. Maybe the two will hook up later, but it’s better to realize these things before the wedding, not after. After a successful year, the cast of the hit ABC show Grey’s Anatomy is getting a bonus. Cast members were recently given a $200,000 bonus. The show’s Creator Shonda Rhimes also renegotiated a three-year deal worth $10 million. In addition to Grey’s Anatomy, which is moving to Thursday at 10pm in the fall, she is also developing a show about female journalists. Actress Sanaa Lathan is joining the cast of the hit F/X show Nip Tuck. The show is about to enter its fourth season. Sanaa will play a sexy powerful woman in her 30’s who is married to a rich, old man. Jamie Foxx is set to portray Reggae Superstar Bob Marley on the big screen in a movie based on his life. Nicole Murphy is one rich, happy, Divorced woman. The ex-Mrs. Eddie Murphy is the talk of the town with her cars and shopping sprees. She is no longer dating Businessman Alan Daniels. He was probably a casualty of the divorce settlement. Nicole is currently enjoying something new in the form of a young Italian boy toy. Robin Givens is ready to tell all. She has a new book coming out in January entitled Grace Will Lead Me Home. In the book, she discusses how the women in her family have a history of domestic abuse dating back three generations. She plans to go into detail about her troubled and violent marriage to Boxer Mike Tyson. How he would slice her clothes, choke and beat her. Actress Lark Voorhies is going after the tabloids. Voorhies is best known for the character “Lisa Turtle” on the TV show Saved By The Bell. She also dated Martin Lawrence. Voorhies claims she was slandered by the tabloids who claimed she has a cocaine addiction. She says it is not true, and the incident left her humiliated, suffering from mental anguish, emotional and physical distress. She is seeking $25 thousand in damages. Is the famed TV newsmagazine show 60 Minutes dissing Legendary Correspondent Ed Bradley? Bradley, who once worked here at WDAS, is getting no respect as CBS executives work out his new contract. Bradley is 64, and word has it younger correspondents are being groomed for the show (Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper). Is Bradley going to be pushed out of 60 Minutes? The Queen of All Media Wendy Williams is about to release her third book and first novel. Drama Is Her Middle Name: The Ritz Harper Chronicles Volume 1 is due out on June 20th. Wendy’s previous books include Wendy’s Got The Heat and The Wendy Williams Experience. WHAT’S THE UNDERGROUND BUZZ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This Young Celebrity is tired of people complaining about her weight. Yes, she’s too skinny, but when she was heavier she underwent stomach stapling surgery. So now, she can only gain but so much weight. Friday, June 9th kicks off The 31st Annual Odunde African Festival celebration. The weekend will be filled with events including the grand finale outdoor festival at 23rd and South, 10am until 8pm. Floetry will be the special musical guest, and I’ll be involved with a special ceremony. For more information, log onto odundeinc.org. The BET Awards air June 27th with Host Damon Wayans. Nominees include Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Jamie Foxx, Denzel Washington, Terrence Howard, Queen Latifah and Alfre Woodard. Patty's 411 Celebrity Report 06/12/2006
Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of June 12th, 2006
The drama continues to unfold since the death of Singer/Musician Billy Preston. Preston died last week of kidney failure. He had been in a coma for the past eight months, and now his sisters want answers about what was going on during the final months of his life. Preston’s sisters claim his former manager kept the family away from their brother’s side during his final months. The manager claims Billy Preston had a strained relationship with his family, and had been depressed following the death of his mother. Drugs played a big part in Billy’s life and resulted in his various health problems. Billy never married, and he had no kids. When he died, his sisters took hold of his body. They are having additional autopsies performed on their brother because they feel foul play may be involved in his death. Services for Billy Preston are scheduled for next week, a full two weeks after his death. A musical tribute is planned for the 19th, and funeral services are scheduled for the 20th. Billy’s funeral had been planned and paid for months ago. I hear Billy was bankrupt at the time of his death. His former manager claims his family is looking for money that is not there. Whitney Houston has been spotted attending church services in Los Angeles. A video leaked out showing Whitney at the West Angles Church in Los Angeles. I hope this is a turnaround for Whitney. If she can beat her demons, this would be the greatest comeback. Whitney can show the world you can fall down, but you can get back up. A lot of people are rooting for Whitney to get better. I interviewed Patti LaBelle earlier this week, and she expressed her concern about Whitney. Patti says Whitney is in her prayers. She says she knows Whitney can beat this and return to the voice that God gave her. Congratulations are in order for Ron Isley and his young wife Kandi Johnson. They are the proud parents of a new baby. The 64-year old singer is currently awaiting his sentencing. Isley was found guilty on tax evasion charges and charges that he cashed his dead brother’s royalty checks. He faces up to 26 years in prison. His sentencing date is August 21st. Janet Jackson is everywhere showing off her body. She recently did a cover shoot for Vibe magazine, which is going to coincide with the release of her latest album, 20 Years Old. The album comes out on September 26th, and the first single, Call On Me with Rapper Nelly, comes out before the end of the month. There’s a lot of speculation on how she lost over 60 pounds in four months. The 40-year old singer is denying reports that she had liposuction despite inside sources reportedly saying that she is a big fan of the plastic surgery procedure, and has had it done in the past. She looks a little different, and the rumors are running rampant from botox to steroid use. Her body is very buff. Last weekend, she wore a lot of revealing outfits against the wishes of her boyfriend Producer Jermaine Dupri. Sources say he was a little nervous because her body is now more toned than his. Her arms alone look better than most men’s. There is still no trial date set for the R Kelly child pornography case, but when the trial does take place look for fireworks. Last week, a judge ruled that the infamous sex tape allegedly showing Kelly with a 13-year old girl will be shown to the public and the media. The tape is nasty, and a lot of people are going to be shocked about the contents and deviant sex acts performed. This is certainly a major blow for R Kelly. If convicted, his career could be over. The young girl in the video refuses to testify or make comments regarding the tape. R Kelly insists he is not the man in the video. Is Nicole Richie stalking her ex-fiancé DJ AM, a.k.a. Adam Goldstein? Sources say she is because she can’t let go. They recently broke up for good after a failed reunion. She has reportedly been calling and text messaging him up to 20 times a day. The Simple Life star has been trying to gain weight after admitting that she may have a problem. Her ex was not happy with her drastic weight loss and party lifestyle. Nicole’s dad Lionel Richie is coming to Philly in a couple of weeks. He will be headlining the Sunoco Welcome America Concert on the steps of the Art Museum. Lionel has a new album coming out called Coming Home on the Def Jam label featuring the single I Call It Love. Legendary Actor Larry Hagman will be teaming up with Actress Sanaa Lathan when the new season of the F/X series Nip Tuck kicks off. Hagman is best known for his role as “J.R. Ewing” on the Dallas TV show, as well as the character “Major Nelson” on the 60’s classic I Dream of Jeannie. On the show Nip Tuck, Sanaa will play sexy young woman who is married to rich older man, played by Hagman. Vivica A. Fox is gearing up to be one of the stars on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Recent photos of Vivica have been circulating on the internet, and she looks a mess. Some blogs are referring to Vivica as “Franken-Vivica.” She has had more plastic surgery, and her face and lips look swollen. I wish she would take time to let her face heal before going out in public. She looks terrible! Memo to Vivica: what have you done to your face? You were beautiful! The changes are becoming more drastic with each surgery. If you must have these surgeries, then stay out of sight until your face heals. A lot of your fans are worried about you and the direction of your career. John Legend and Mary J. Blige will be performing as part of the J.C. Penney Jam: The Concert for America’s Kids. The show will be hosted by Dr. Phil, and will air on CBS August 22nd. Before she became a gospel singing sensation, Yolanda Adams was a schoolteacher, and now she wants to see others get into the teaching profession. Yolanda has launched The Voice of An Angel Foundation to encourage kids to grow up to be schoolteachers. The Urban League of Philadelphia is presenting their 4th Annual Song of Equality Gala and Concert on Saturday, the 17th. Teddy Pendergrass will be the night’s big honoree. Peabo Bryson will be performing. The gala is happening at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Broad and Spruce Streets. For info call 215-893-1993. WHAT’S THE UNDERGROUND BUZZ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! This Singer/Actor is on the fast track to nowhere. He’s sexy, but he’s so arrogant. He’s turning a lot of people off. His behavior is terrible not only to his fans, but he’s making enemies with top record executives. He thinks he’s the man, but his nasty attitude is ruining his career. He wants to be a rapper, but he should stick to singing. Maybe he will come to his senses when his new album bombs. This Singer is not fooling anyone with his latest charade. He tells the world his wife is fine, but the reality is he is not with his superstar wife. They have been separated for a while and he has been running around getting high, drinking too much and cheating on her. On a recent celebrity cruise, a lot of people wondered why he wasn’t in rehab. I do believe this. I think LL is freaky but not gay (although he could be however, not because of what this chick is saying). If he likes WOMEN to use these "toys" on him that does not imply he's gay. Just my opinion. |

I agree. The song is catchy. I like it. I am looking forward to the video because the track has a great baseline and I can see some funky dance routines on the horizon. |

according to supacidy:
Popular jeweler Yakov "Jacob the Jeweler" Arabov was arrested today (June 15) on money-laundering charges and released on $100,000 bail according to reports. Arabov, who appeared in U.S. District Court in Manhattan today on the charges, was arrested in his mid-town store in New York and was charged with conspiring to launder over $270 million dollars for Black Mafia Family or BMF. Authorities claim the Russian immigrant, who has provided jewels for some of the most well known rappers, also conspired to distribute over 476 kilos of cocaine for BMF. "We are confident that once the government is advised of all the facts surrounding these issues that all of the charges against Mr. Arabov will be completely dismissed," Paul Wilmot, a spokesman for Jacob & Co. said. In October, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) arrested 30 members of the self-named of BMF and seized over $3 million in money, assets, 2 ½ kilograms of cocaine and weapons. Jacob the Jeweler's signature time pieces have been featured in numerous magazines and such celebrities as Angela Bassett, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Enrique Iglesias, Justin Timberlake, David & Victoria Beckham, Sir Elton John, Naomi Campbell, 50 Cent, Madonna and Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne are listed as clients on his official website |

Why I was listening to the radio earlier today and they (Flo and the DJ) were talking about Ashanti's "pregancy" (because I won't believe it until it's out from the official camps). Why they were saying that Ashanti should be on Maury and the DJ said "Nelly, you are not the father!" :p

BV Buzz 6/12--News on the Fantastic Voyage Cruise
It's called a "party with a purpose." Each year syndicated radio jock Tom Joyner and his morning show cohorts (J. Anthony Brown, Sybil Wilkes, Myra J., Miss Dupree and Tavis Smiley) charter an entire Royal Caribbean cruise ship, call it 'Fantastic Voyage' and raise lots of money for historically black colleges and universities. This year, another $1 million was raised by the more than 3,500 guests on the sold-out Navigator of the Sea, where old school and new school music acts and comics performed over a seven-day trek through the Caribbean.
Performers on this year's 'Fantastic Voyage' included Earth, Wind & Fire, Kem, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Teena Marie, Doug E. Fresh, Vickie Winans, Chuck Brown, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Zapp, Fred Hammond, Bobby Brown, Morris Day & The Time, C.O.C.O. Brown & The Phat Cat Players, Mel Waiters, Slick Rick, Joe McBride, Shirley Murdock, Mike Phillips, Third World and Michael Ward. Comics Whoopi Goldberg, Tommy Davidson, Wanda Sykes, Damon Williams, Sheryl Underwood, Bruce Bruce, Adele Givens, Earthquake, Sommore, Gary Owens, G- Thang and A.J. Jamal also performed. Former child star Emmanuel Lewis ('Webster'), gospel's Dr. Bobby Jones, NFL great Emmitt Smith and wife, Pat Smith, comic George Wallace, Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, author Terry McMillan, 'America's Next Top Model' contestant Tiffany Richardson, Dr. Ian Smith ('Celebrity Fit Club'), Bishop Eddie Long, NBA legend Julius Erving, promoter Al Wash (ALW Entertainment), public relations pro Lynn Allen Jeter and deejay Steve "Silk" Hurley were among the other notables cruising. The 'Fantastic Voyage' offers so many activities that guests really didn't have to get off the ship when it stopped in Freeport, Bahamas; Nassau, Bahamas; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; and Royal Caribbean's private island, Labadee, Hispaniola. Everything from lectures by Tavis Smiley to book signings by Terry McMillan and art auctions, took place daily on the ship. Passengers could also stay 'Sweatin' in the Spirit' with Joyner's wife, fitness guru Donna Richardson Joyner, and her team of work-out warriors, who offered everything from water aerobics to jogging and pilates. There is even a water gun fight during the cruise's last port, and teams are divided by light skin versus dark skin. (It's a running bit from Joyner's show, and its all done in fun!) Babyface rocked his two jam-packed shows at the Metropolis Theater on the ship. He received numerous standing ovations during the set, especially after performing "Whip Appeal"- the audience demanded two additional reprises. Surprise appearances by Bobby Brown, who sang his three Babyface-produced hits, and Babyface's brother Kevon Edmonds, who covered hits like Johnny Gill's "My, My, My, " were an added. Backstage Babyface told me that he's working on a new album and has several new acts he's developing. Additionally, he's producing an upcoming Bee-Gees tribute record. "The cruise is great! I didn't know it was going to be as cool and chill as it is. Kevon talked me into it because this is his second time on it. He told me I should definitely come because I am always trying not to do stuff," he said. It was an overflow crowd in Studio B for both 2:00 a.m. shows by Bobby Brown. Whitney Houston's "King of R&B" wowed the crowd with such cuts as "Every Little Step," "My Prerogative," "Roni" and "Rock Wit'cha." Each night Brown brought a different woman onstage and would simulate some sex act with her. The first night, he had 'Top Model' finalist Tiffany Richardson join him-remember she's the one Tyra Banks screamed at: "I've never screamed at a girl like this in my life!" Since this is a family-friendly column, I can't report exactly what Brown did to her onstage, but let's just say his song "Humpin' Around" captures it quite well! Even better was night two when Brown had Reach Media's Marcelina Olan come onstage. The full- figured favorite gave Brown a lap dance he'll never forget and to top it all off, she picked him up and carried him across the stage. It was unbelievable! Brown told me that his album is set to bow July 4, and that he's still trying to tour with SWV. He also said he's filmed a couple of movies that are slated to drop this year, and he's excited about the second season of 'Being Bobby Brown.' He claimed his wife wanted to join him on the cruise, but he said no. "She's at home with the kids. I wouldn't allow it. She's doing wonderful, thanks for asking," he added. Brown was such a hit, Joyner invited him back next year. Wanda Sykes said she was convinced Joyner had struck a deal with the U.S. government to get Brown out of the country. "I was nervous 'cause I thought it was a ploy to take Bobby's ass back to Africa. I thought Tom hooked up with the Bush administration to get Bobby out of here for good since he caused so much trouble in the states," said the comedienne laughing. Next year, Joyner's 'Fantastic Voyage' will set sail on the largest cruise ship on the water, Royal Caribbean's newest, Freedom of the Seas. If 'Queen of Comedy' Sommore has anything to do with it, there will be a lot more men onboard. "I don't know what we need to do to get more men on board. It gets to the point where you see woman talking to woman. And when you start talking to a man, women be jumping out from behind tables like, 'He's mine!' Maybe we should offer a two- for-one discount for men next year," she offered. Random Observations: Fred Hammond fought back laughter as comic Damon Williams made a joke about his best bud Kirk Franklin one night. "You know Kirk came out with his porn addiction. Now he's telling folks, 'For those of you who think gospel music has gone too far… it has! Now show your [breasts]," said Williams joking. Teena Marie's keyboard player fell down a flight of stairs backstage of the Metropolis Theater after coming out of his dressing room. He spent the night in the infirmary, where he was x-rayed and given pain medication for the swelling. He was back onstage the second night. Dining hall attendee Hera of the Philippines almost hypervenalated when Vickie Winans and Veda Brown of Black Gospel Promo tipped her $100 after their meal. Gratuity is covered on the 'Fantastic Voyage,' so the additional generosity of the two ladies completely overwhelmed the waitress. Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire had a run-in with the staff at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami before boarding the cruise. There was a random $30 charge on White's tab at the hotel, and when the singer apparently questioned it, the hotel employee challenged he couldn't afford it. After realizing who the singer was, the hotel staff profusely apologized. Buzzworthy Condolences go out to Stevie Wonder. The star's mother Lula Hardaway, 74, passed last week. Hardaway lived in Woodland Hills, Calif. and apparently suffered from an assortment of illnesses. She and Wonder were at odds over her 2002 biography 'Blind Faith: The Miraculous Journey of Lula Hardaway and her son Stevie Wonder' (Simon & Schuster). We're glad to know they reconciled before she passed. On Wonder's voicemail, he spoke about "Momma Lula being in Heaven," and the day she died "was the most difficult day of his life." It's hard to keep up with Serena Williams's dating life. The tennis pro had an unidentified dapper white guy on her arm last month at the Kentucky Derby. Now rumor has it that she's courting actor Jackie Long ('ATL'). Photos of the two vacationing in South Beach with gal pal Kelly Rowland are circulating on the net. At press time, her rep never answered a request for a comment. Williams previously dated Hollywood director Brett Ratner ('X-Men: 3') and football star LaVar Arrington. Those in California should check out 'The Summer Breakout' show at the Fox Theater June 23 in Bakersfield, Calif. Performers include 'Half & Half' star Chico Benymon, former 'Moesha' star Marcus Paulk, Genovece and solo performances by former B2K members Raz-B and Lil' Fizz. Former B2K singer J-Boog will host the show and there are several surprise acts yet to be announced. For details, visit www.FoxTheaterOnline.com. Fashion designer Kara Saun has signed with Agent 011. The Los Angeles-based designer, whose booming design business excelled after her appearance on Bravo's 'Project Runway,' has dressed everyone from Queen Latifah to Eve and outfitted shows like The WB's 'What I Like About You.' "I'm excited that the Kara Saun Collection will be in the hands of such a dynamic sales team and showcased in Agent 011's beautiful showroom. I'm looking forward to what promises to be a successful collaboration," said Saun. Agent 011 is a new multi-brand fashion showroom based in the Soho area of New York City that launched this past spring. The agency also operates from remote locations in Paris and Los Angeles during the cities' respective fashion weeks. Can't Say Names… I know the motto is: "What happens on the cruise stays on the cruise." But a female reality show contestant turned this year's Fantastic Voyage into the "Love Boat" by hooking up with one of the celebrity men onboard. Making a love connection on the cruise certainly isn't the issue, but the fact that dude is a married man sure is! Plus, I can assure you that they got together well before, what we like to call, 'Might As Well Night!' We've already figured out who this is... Frankly Speaking "This ain't a cruise for somebody going through divorce. There's love in every show. I love Teena Marie, but I couldn't' take another love song. I was trying to do a reality show called 'Get Rid of your B-h.' Then I realized that Bobby Brown already got that covered." - Comic Earthquake on life after divorce. |

Ruben wins $2m from former manager (AP)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (June 16) - American Idol winner Ruben Studdard has been awarded $2 million in his lawsuit against his ex-manager for misappropriating the singer's money and credit cards.
Studdard, 26, of Birmingham, won the television talent show in 2003 and filed suit last year against ex-manager Ronald W. Edwards and Edwards' promotions company, Sez Inc. Jefferson County Circuit Judge Scott Vowell on Thursday awarded Studdard $500,000 for his actual losses and another $1.5 million in punitive damages, The Birmingham News reported Thursday on its Web site. Vowell dismissed Edwards' promotions company from the suit because it was bankrupt and had no assets. Edwards filed a petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on June 17, 2005. The suit claimed Edwards misused more than $246,000 of the singer's money. According to the judge's ruling, Edwards took money from Studdard's checking and other bank accounts, improperly used his credit cards and even used Studdard's money to repay a $10,000 bank loan. Studdard has sold more than 2.2 million records, but the damage to his credit because of the fraud made it hard to obtain financing to buy a home, Vowell's order said. |

My grandmother was even talking to me about this, saying that they choose who they choose for a reason. B/c, had that been back in the day with Aretha or someone else they would have been picking themselves up off the floor LMAO. I agree with Nana. |
I agree with the both of ya'll. She should have stood up for herself more, but if she would have gotten 'too hood', it may damage her good girl rep. She was probably more shocked than anything. But if she wants to put fur on her clothes, so be it.
Those PETA people better be lucky Jigga wasn't there! :p |
