Thank you Nebraska. Because of you, my Cyclones now stand a shot of winning the Big XII North title. I can't believe I cheered for the Huskers today., felt a bit strange. Hopefully my 'Clones can pull off the W tomorrow.

What a freakin GREAT game!!!! Yeah, my Ags lost, but they FINALLY showed the talent they have and played their asses off!!!!!! I was SO proud of them today! :)

Now let's see if that was good enough for Coach Fran to keep his job for the last year of his contract. :p

They need to build a new stadium in Boulder.

Some years ago, they expanded the seating by digging downward (instead of building upward) and taking out the track that most stadiums still have. That means that the sidelines are mabye two yards deep -- and I think dangerous for the players. Beyond that, though, it means that the "fans" are within 10-12 feet of the benchs. That just lends itself to abusive fan behavior and idiocy on thier behalf. Most stadiums have considerably more seperation between fans and players.

Not that some of the folks in Boulder need the help, but the Folsom Field atmosphere -- and beer sales -- are not catalysts for good things.

NOTE: As I recall, when there were alcohol deaths in the Greek Systems at Colorado and Colorado State last year, CSU banned beer sales at the stadium. A PR move at best, but CU never did to the best of my knowledge. (CSU reinstated sales later, I think.) When Bill McCartney, born again Christian and founder of Promise Keepers, was coach at Colorado, he tried to get beer sales banned in the stadium. I don't think it ever happened. It's profitible. Of course people would sneak in stuff, or just show up drunk anyway, but sales in the stadium don't help the situation there.

I agree that it is dangerous for the players...I seem to remember some play, years ago in a CU - NU game, where the Husker QB (Mickey Joseph? Keithen McCants?) got hit out of bounds very, very late and was literally thrown into one of the benches...I was probably about 6 or 7 at the time, and mainly remember how much my dad was yelling at the TV, so I might have this confused with some other opponent.

I thought it was strange that they cleared the section this year, given that during all those games while McCartney was still in Boulder where there was snow on the ground, the fans routinely through snowballs and iceballs at the players with nothing ever happening.

PM_Mama00 11-26-2005 02:51 PM

Bill McCartney is from my hometown! And Loyd Carr's brother in law I believe?

What teams are playing in which bowls this year?

ISUKappa 11-26-2005 05:08 PM

I hate you Kansas. And I hate you, too, Coach Mac. We had it and pissed it away as usual. What were you thinking? We never win in overtime! Argh!!!!!!

How can we beat A&M and Colorado but lose to Kansas? Argh!!!!!!

At least this saves us an ass-whipping from Texas.

We'll be lucky to get the Houston bowl now.

The1calledTKE 11-27-2005 01:21 AM

Fresno State nearly beats USC then they lose to Nevada this week? Notre Dame nearly loses to Stanford. College football is a funny thing.

lol Leinart has already said he voted for Bush for Heisman and if Bush doesn't get it, there is something seriously wrong with the system.

and

HELL YEAH we screwed them bruins good! where was their high powered offense? where were those special teams we were supposed to be so afraid of? lol They just looked confused all day.

ROSE BOWL BABY!!!

tinydancer 12-04-2005 11:57 AM

Amycat, we are looking at a great game coming up in the Rose Bowl! This is just how it should be. Is Reggie Bush a senior or is he going to come out early? I should know, but I missed it somewhere.

seriously man, i thought i was watching a basketball game with scores like that.

they should have a mercy rule saying that if you are down 50 or so points the game is over. i also think young should win the heisman. look how many blowout games they have had. if he had continued to play and actually finish in most of those blowout games, then maybe his numbers would have been higher. yesterday he was pulled in the third quarter.

AznSAE 12-04-2005 04:53 PM

oh yeah, there is talk that arkansas might move up to the big 12 north because the chance of them winning is greater. what are they going to call the conference if that happens? lucky 13?

Reggie is a junior. He hasn't decided whether to come out early or not. I hope he stays for his senior year, but I bet he comes out if he wins the Heisman.

Its going to be a great game. UT hasn't faced a team as fast as SC this year and for SC shutting down V Young will be such a challenge and it should be exciting and nerve wracking for all fans!

I am contemplating putting myself in poor house by buying $900 each tix. lol Mr. amycat said he was getting me them for Xmas, but am not sure he's following thru on that due to cost and damnit I MUST GO TO THIS GAME! lol

Well the funny thing is, I am taking 1/2 of 12/22 off, 12/23 off, then my office is closed 12/26 and does not reopen until 1/3. And then POOF hopefully will take 1/4 off and be partying my ass off in Pasadena.

Of 50 of us in my office tho, about 30 or so of us are SC alums. And my guess is almost all of us will be out that day.

How is that possibly a good game to watch??? They didn't even really have to play. Isn't is a better game if they actually have to TRY???? Seems like a pretty boring game to me.

The Rose Bowl will be a GREAT game to watch!!! I will be watching that...... and cheering for USC. ;)

TristanDSP 12-05-2005 05:37 PM

YES! YES! YES! TOM CRAFT HAS BEEN FIRED!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for FOUR non-winning seasons and ZERO bowl games...Thanks for making football at SDSU while I was an undergrad a completely unwatchable waste of time... congrats on going 19-29 with no wins over a ranked opponent or against a non-conference Div. I-A opponent. I'm sue those wins over Samford, Nevada-Reno and Idaho State DEFINITELY helped your cause.

Yeah, and thanks for helping attendance drop by more than 10,000. I'm sure you loved playing in a 70,000 seat stadium that's only 10% full, and most of them are fans of the road team.

now go back to JC where you belong and don't let the door hit your "we're not ready to win yet" ass on the way out.

BRING ON DENNIS ERICKSON OR RICK NEUHEISEL!!!!!!!!!!

amycat412 12-05-2005 05:59 PM

lol I saw that on espn.com and wondered how long it would take for you to post in this thread. ;) but that is exactly how I felt during the robinson/hackett years at SC.

Aye, you know me too well....

I'm very proud that my hometown produced this year's Heisman Trophy winner, especially since he writes our area code on his eye black :D

amycat412 12-05-2005 06:16 PM

yep, no doubt about it Reggie's going to win the Heisman, bring USC's total Heisman winners to 7. That will tie us with Notre Dame for most Heismans by school.

The Sugar Bowl was AWESOME

Congrats to DGQueen17 and the mountaineers

Watching the fans in the stands was awesome. Such die hards

UGA has nothing to be ashamed of. They lost to a good team, and fought back valiantly

valkyrie 01-03-2006 01:54 AM

The Outback Bowl featured what was hands-down the WORST officiating I have ever seen in my entire life. It's one thing to lose when you deserve to lose, but another thing entirely when the refs are up the ass of the opposing team. I mean, come on -- Florida had an extra player on the field who ran RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REF on his way off the field and no call. And dude offsides during the on-side kick? Not even CLOSE you bastards. I don't even remember the other stupid calls but even the announcers were all WTF.
