Yup, I think so. i have noticed on people here at work, when they have lost a weight, their head tends to get big when it seems that they have lost to much. I tell my co-worker this all the time...when she goes below her normal body weight...I'm like that head is starting to get big.

Twenty years ago, the City of Brotherly Love had the honor of playing host to one of world's largest musical events, Live Aid. On Saturday, July 2nd, the spotlight will once again be on Philly as we gear up for Live 8, a concert on The Ben Franklin Parkway to benefit African countries. Philadelphia, along with London, Paris, Berlin and Rome, will play host to the musical extravaganza. Stevie Wonder, Will Smith, Usher, 50 Cent, Bon Jovi, The Dave Matthews' Band, Jay-Z, P. Diddy and Rob Thomas will be performing in Philadelphia.


If Michael Jackson is found not guilty in his child molestation trial, what will he do to revive his career and get his life back in order? Michael has made a vow to his fans that he will never again put himself in a position where he will be accused of child molestation. Simply put, no more young boys in the bed. Sources say Michael may leave the United States and take up residence in Europe. There has been talk of a theme park in Africa for children, and he's reportedly in talks with Casino Magnet Steve Wynn about doing shows at his new Wynn Casino. Will Michael be acquitted? Will his career ever recover?


In a recent interview, Michael's dad, Joe Jackson, opened up about the trial and how it has devastated his family. He reveals that Michael barely eats or sleeps. Joe blames Michael's problems on the people he was hanging around. Even though Michael has accused his father of beating and abusing him as a child, Joe claims this trial has brought them closer together.


The latest issue of Vanity Fair will feature an interview with a former private eye who worked with Michael. He says Michael is blaming his problems on a massive conspiracy led by former Sony Boss Tommy Mottola. Mottola used to be married to Mariah Carey. Michael feels Mottola wants his Beatles' publishing catalog which is worth millions, and he is willing to destroy him to get it. Michael allegedly revealed to the private eye that the judge on the case is in on it, as well as Sony Music and the Los Angeles County District Attorney. He thinks they want to take his money. The private eye claims he and Michael talked about what prison is like and if you can watch TV or movies. At one point, the private eye urged him to get rid of the weird persona, the hair, the lipstick and the eyebrows. He told him he should start going out with girls and do romantic things, but Michael refused. He says he told Michael to stop fooling around with kids. He says Michael told him no. So why is the private eye revealing all? He says Michael owes him $5 thousand for past work. He sounds like a man with an axe to grind.


Former NBA Star John Salley is making a lot of headlines this year. He's got the Fox show, The Best Damn Sports Show Period. He's doing morning radio at The Beat in Los Angeles. And, a few weeks ago, there were reports that he was making out with Desperate Housewives Star Terri Hatcher. Everybody is talking about John Salley, especially a former mistress. Salley is married with kids, but an old flame is talking and she's suing. Salley's ex is suing him for $8 million. She says he was possessive, jealous, controlling and abusive. She claims he beat her, and caused her a great deal of emotional distress. This is going to be an interesting court case. I wonder what Mr. Salley has to say?


Beyonce's dad, Matthew Knowles, is still missing in action. Knowles was the forced behind Destiny's Child and Beyonce's career. He created Sanctuary Records and had a roster of artists. But, a few weeks ago, trouble came to paradise when Beyonce got word her dad was up to no good with one of her background dancers. Apparently, Matthew had tried to hit on the girl and when she refused his advances, he threatened to fire her. The dancer went to Beyonce and revealed all, and that's when Beyonce put her foot down. She had put up with his behavior for far too long, and she had him replaced as the manager of the group and herself. Matthew is an admitted sex and drug addict, and he has been cheating on his wife for years. Sources believe he is on a binge right now, and, out of embarrassment, he is hiding. Beyonce's boyfriend, Rapper Jay-Z, is thrilled that her dad is out of the picture. He hated the sexy stage outfits her father made her wear. He has wanted her to tone down her sexy image. Now that he is guiding her career, Jay is getting his way. Destiny's Child will be releasing a gospel album later this year, and Beyonce is moving full steam ahead with her movie career. In August, she teams up with Steve Martin for The Pink Panther movie. And, next year, she heats up the big screen with Jamie Foxx in the movie Dreamgirls, based on the Broadway musical. Destiny's Child will be in Philly, August 5th in concert at the Wachovia Center. Tix go on sale June 11th. Opening acts for the show are Mario and Amerie.


Usher finally tells the truth! Usher admits his romance with Supermodel Naomi Campbell was fake. Usher says he never actually dated the supermodel despite rumors they were lovers for several months. Chris Rock is on a roll. Over the weekend, his two movies, Madagascar and The Longest Yard, both grossed over $120 million at the box office. Chris starred in The Longest Yard with Adam Sandler, and they will be teaming up again for another movie. Adam is producing the movie, The Gilmores of Beverly Hills. Chris will star in the movie about a low income black family that moves to Beverly Hills.


Chris Tucker has turned down starring in the movie, Rush Hour 3. He was set to join Jackie Chan in the movie, and get a $20 million payday. There's no word on why he turned down the part, or if someone else will take over his role. I was not looking forward to another Rush Hour movie. Chris needs to prove he can do other parts. He's very talented, and he needs to take it to the next level.


Did religious reasons play a part in Dave Chappelle's strange disappearance? Chappelle is a Muslim, and sources say he found it hard to continue doing comedy bits where he had to talk about sex, use profanity and joke about drugs. There is still no word on whether he will resume his job on Chappelle's Show for the Comedy Central network. Is he willing to walk away from $50 million to serve his God? When one finds their religious calling, it becomes very difficult to serve two Gods. Can he practice his Islamic faith, and still be funny? Or, is this just an excuse to break that contract with Comedy Central?


The City of Philadelphia is gearing up for Tammi Terrell Day on June 16th. The Native Philadelphian and Motown Legend will be honored in her hometown at City Hall. Singer Lauryn Hill almost got an employee fired at a carpet and home store. The employee went to assist Lauryn, who was looking around the store, and she made the mistake of calling her, "Lauryn." I guess this confirms that she is not married because she wants to be called by her maiden name.

What's going on between Tyra Banks and Actor/Playwright/Director Tyler Perry? The two have been spending a lot of time of time together. But, sources say the two are just friends. Tyra is dating an Italian Basketball Player Giancarlo Maracaccini.


In other Tyra news, she is shaking things up on the set of America's Next Top Model. Former Supermodel Janice Dickerson is out and 60's Fashion Icon Twiggy is in. Tyra and Janice did not get along. When Janice starting making money demands, she was shown the door. Janice not only looked harsh (too much plastic surgery), she was very harsh on the contestants. Sometimes, she was downright cruel. She didn't like any of the women who were picked as Top Model winners. Tyra was getting sick of her act, and made the change. The new season of America's Next Top Model kicks off in September. The same time as her new daytime talker is unveiled. Tyra is going to be one busy lady. As for Janice Dickerson, she will be starring in the new installment of the VH1 reality series, The Surreal Life. On this one, Janice butts heads with Omarosa of Apprentice fame, and they almost come to blows. In a preview scene, it looks like Janice is going to stab her. In other Top Model news, Eva Pigford, the winner from season two, is finding that her career is not taking off as promised. She was recently replaced as the face of Rapper Nelly's clothing line, Apple Bottoms.


We could all use a boss like Oprah Winfrey. To celebrate her show's 20th season, she treated her staffers to an all expense paid trip to Hawaii. Ashanti and the Gardener? Ashanti will be teaming up with Jesse Metcalfe, the teenage love gardener on Desperate Housewives, for the movie, John Tucker Must Die. It's a revenge movie about a heartbreaker (Metcalfe) and the three girls he hurts. Ashanti plays one of the girls.


Now that she's a singing sensation, will Fantasia take the time to get her GED? Fantasia had to drop out of school to raise her daughter, and then she became the American Idol. Now it's time for Sista girl to get her GED.


Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band is teaming up with R Kelly for his latest project, and he admits he's very excited. The CD, Charlie, Last Name: Wilson, comes out on July 26th. Charlie says filming the video with sexy women was fun, but his wife was on the set to keep everything in line. Charlie, who has led a wild life with drugs and women, says he plans on staying on the straight and narrow.


Martin Lawrence returns to the big screen on July 1st with 'Rebound'. Wendy Raquel Robinson also stars.


On July 13th, it's Terrence Howard and Anthony Anderson in the John Singleton film, Hustle and Flow.


Actor Hill Harper from the CBS show, CSI: New York, is writing a motivational book for youth. Letters To The Young Brothers is due out next spring. Harper says he is writing the book to encourage young people who are not hearing any positive messages.

And now for the first time since Tamia’s devastating diagnosis nearly two years ago, the couple has found the courage to speak out, and they’re talking only to "Extra."

"I mean literally, I went from being physically active to not being able to get out of bed," Tamia recalled. "I cried for maybe 20 or 25 minutes."

"It took time for her, for both of us, for everyone involved, to accept it," Grant added.

Tamia, who is 30, joins other celebrities like Richard Pryor, Teri Garr, Annette Funicello and Montel Williams in taking their struggles public to help raise awareness for the National MS Society and the crippling disease that attacks the nervous system.

"I just felt it was important to get it out there and let people know it's not a sign of weakness," Tamia said. "You have good days and bad days."

But the Hills aren't letting MS slow them down. Grant's still a premiere player in the NBA, whose main goal now is helping his wife manage MS through medication, diet and exercise. And remarkably, Tamia is raising a 3-year-old daughter and still touring and recording new material!

"It wasn’t a death sentence," Tamia insisted.

"She's a great mother, she's active, she's entertaining," Grant said. "Hopefully she can be encouraging and inspiring to others."

"We're just pushing forward and hoping that in the next ten years there will be a cure," Tamia

Tamia's diagnosis was in Jet Magazine. I guess it came out around the time she released this last CD.

I learned she had it right after my former college roomie was diagnosed with it in January.

Judge Issues Warrant for Bobby Brown

CANTON, Mass. -- A family court judge issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for singer Bobby Brown after he failed to appear for a child support hearing.

Brown's local attorney told the judge that the singer became ill and was taken to a hospital in Atlanta, but was unable to provide proof, said Patrick McDermott, the court's Register of Probate.

McDermott said the judge might have postponed the hearing if there had been documentation of the illness.

Brown lives in Alpharetta, Ga., with his wife, singer Whitney Houston. He has two children with Kim Ward of Stoughton.

McDermott said Brown has failed to make payments to an educational trust for those two children, had not proven his source of income, and had not made the latest monthly child support payment by the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline.

'Diary of a Mad Black Woman' stars Shemar Moore and Kimberly Elise are dating, according to gossip maven Flo Anthony. (Apparently their relationship appeared genuine and not some forced public relations stunt like the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes hookup.) 'America's Next Top Model' season three winner Eva Pigford sure can take a picture. Even before earning the top prize on Tyra Banks' hit UPN reality series, Pigford hadn't met a camera she didn't like. Well, unless it was attached to a cell phone!


Pigford, who inked a $100,000 deal with Cover Girl cosmetics after winning last season, posed for pictures and signed autographs for employees at the Solstice Boutique on 34th Street in New York City after spending more than $1,200 on sunglasses by Gucci and Valentino. "She was so friendly and accommodating to everyone," a staffer told us. "But she was clear that she wouldn't pose for pictures taken by cell phones."
Why the aversion to cell phone photography? "Because in her own words, 'Camera phones are flattering to no one,'" added the source.


Cedric the Entertainer is catching some flack from fans of Jackie Gleason and 'The Honeymooners' series on message boards and blogs on the Internet.


"You know, it was some dissention, man, with people who are purists of the show. I think that would happen if anybody was a true fan of anything. In a certain way, it would be like if they'd just decided to do a white version of 'Good Times.' Everybody would be like, 'Come on? That's dumb!' [That's] if you love it," said the comic.


Cedric says while he recognizes the concerns from 'The Honeymooners' purists, people need to keep an open mind and recognize that this film is a sign of the times. "I think the attitude of this country is starting to help. We're definitely living in a more diversified kind of society, and people are getting a little more accustomed to switching things out," he offered. "You look at Denzel [Washington] on Broadway doing Julius Caesar, and you don't really make nothing out of it. There's always going to be some hardcore purists and for those people, I think you kind of got a right to do that. I wouldn't want to see somebody from N'Sync playing Tupac. But it don't mean that somebody couldn't do it."


And for those fanatics who are just haters and can't deal with the fact that the "King of Comedy" is playing Ralph Kramden? "I say f-k 'em! F-k 'em! But with love. In an everyman kind of way. With an everyman kind of f-k you," concluded Cedric.


More on 'The Honeymooners'


Star Gabrielle Union says shooting 'The Honeymooners' in Ireland certainly posed some problems. "We were the only black people for miles around. It's kind of hard to be that far away from home in a different country," shared Union. "There are certain things you kind of take for granted, like Raisin Bran. It's not the same! I had to ship Raisin Bran Crunch to myself. I had to ship Kettle Corn to myself."


Union, who'll star in her own ABC series 'Night Stalker,' says there's no way to diet while living in Ireland either. "There they'll have like three potato dishes on one plate. So there's no Atkins Diet and no South Beach diet. None of that," she added.


Union's co-star Regina Hall, along with Leelee Sobieski and Shane West, are in Los Angeles shooting a dramatic film called 'The Optimist.' Hall plays a teacher in the slice of life film, which is a remake of a Russian play. "My character was originally Russian, but she's not anymore," laughed the actress. "But the movie is about a family and they're dysfunctional as hell. They're crazy!" Hall will begin shooting the fourth installment of 'Scary Movie' at the end of the summer.

...Sources say two members of a popular hip-hop collective are apparently on the outs, and one of the rappers is opting for a fresh start by inking a label imprint with Warner Bros. Records. Said southern rappers supposedly haven't spoken in months and the departure of the unit's marquee member certainly won't help to mend the relationship.

...Martin Lawrence and Nia Long are currently in New Orleans shooting the sequel to 'Big Mama's House.' The film's producer David Friendly says the good news for Lawrence is that the film's makeup team has gotten his transformation into Big Mama down from three hours to two. Absent from the sequel are Terrence Howard, Tichina Arnold, Cedric the Entertainer and Anthony Anderson. 'Big Mama's House 2' is set to hit theaters in December.


...Sheri Headley ('Coming to America') has signed a short-term contract to reprise the role of Mimi Reed, Danielle's mother and Derek's ex-wife, on the popular ABC soap opera 'All My Children.' From Sister 2 Sister Magazine Owner & Publisher-Jamie Foster Brown: "Monica should have had her baby boy by the time you read this. He was due May 25th. She called when she was 9 months pregnant to give me the lowdown. The R&B singing cutie told me that she's been busy--not just growing a baby, but in the studio, too. When we spoke, half of her album was finished. She'd been going in the studio from 9 to 3, where they had a special stool made for her. She told me that when she worked with Jermaine Dupri, "He said if I felt funny, to go home." She had no swelling, sickness...nothing. Her only thing was that she was conscious of what she ate (no junk food), and if she worked hard, she rested double. Monica only gained a total of 13 pounds. Imagine that. I can super-size my junk food just one time and gain 13 pounds. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces inside her. She said that she didn't look any different, except for down low in the tummy when she carried the baby. She had no veins and no swelling. Monica continued to travel until her 5th month, and even worked on New Year's Eve. She said that she wanted to have the baby in the hospital because she isn't down with the Mother Earth stuff, though she respects what midwives do. She went to the doctor ever week. And guess what, ladies? She intends to breast-feed. Monica told me how someone predicted her pregnancy. She said, "I found out an old-lady friend of mine had dreamed about me. She dreamed I was pregnant, came and said it was a boy. When I found out from the doctor that I was pregnant and with a boy, it was a happy shock."

She plans to name her son Rodney Ramon, after its daddy. Rodney and Monica are doing many things together. She knows the press can tear families apart, but she hopes to get through all that. She said that she can take the media heat, but the people who love her can't. She met Rodney in a skating rink. Neither of them wanted to go skating that night. Her friend took her skating and his friend took him, but they caught each other's attention. Her girlfriend, Bam, did all the talking and actually called Rodney on the phone for Monica. It seemed like it was determined they should be together, though it didn't happen right away. She met Rodney two weeks before her boyfriend Jarvis killed himself. She said it was scary, his meeting her and then something traumatic like that happening in her life shortly after. In the 5 years that followed, they went from friends to lovers. But she brags that she and Rodney did a good job at hiding their relationship. She said that he's supported her all through her pregnancy. I asked Monica about the children she's taken care of over the last 8 or 9 years, including her ex-boyfriend Jarvis's child. Though she's become a pro at parenting, she said it's scary having your own child, preparing his room and seeing his little clothes lying around the house. Monica also said that her job as an entertainer is scary. She's trying to find the balance between entertaining and dealing with the other priorities in her life.

One of Monica's best friends is Mia X, a rapper who was signed to Master P's No Limit Label. Between Mia X and T-boz, Monica got a lot of advice on being a mother/entertainer. Brandy was one of the first people Monica told about her pregnancy. Brandy said Monica had been on her mind. Monica went to Arizona to visit her. Brandy couldn't come to Monica's shower because it was her fiance Quentin Richardson's 25th birthday. Monica's mom retired from her job at Delta Airlines earlier this year to get ready for her job as grandma. And Monica's brother is already asking how long he can keep the baby. I already know she's going to be "the bomb" mama, but it's good that she's got loved one to help her.

Tyson Beckford Injured in Crash
 

Any Tyson fans out there...

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Model Tyson Beckford, known for his ads for Ralph Lauren Polo, was injured after his truck crashed into a utility pole and burst into flames.

Beckford, 34, lost control of his 2004 red Dodge Ram shortly before 5 a.m. Monday and skidded into the pole, said police Detective Thomas O'Keeffe. The truck caught fire, and Beckford was able to pull himself out before it became fully engulfed in flames, police said.

Beckford, a West New York resident, was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was treated for head trauma and cuts, O'Keeffe said.

Bill Dauster, a hospital spokesman, said Beckford was treated at the hospital Monday afternoon and released.

"He was only taken care of in an outpatient way," said Dauster, who wouldn't release further details.

Beckford's manager, Bethann Hardison, told the New York Daily News the injuries weren't serious.

Beckford was named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" in 1995.

He has appeared in magazines such as GQ, Essence and Vogue.
