How I love those Alpha Gams!

Hi all, this is my first post as well, I just joined yesterday! What a better way to get ready for executive council!
Jessi ~ Alpha Kappa Chapter ~ Bowling Green State University

I pledged in Fall 01

I am currently still a collegian, but when I graduate I hope to attend a school that has an Alpha Gam chapter so that I know I will always have a place to call home.

I joined this amazing chapter because I just knew when I walked out the door it was the place for me. Yea, there were other places on campus I knew I would have liked, but I love these girls so much.

I am currently the VP scholarship, and if anyone has any ideas for me that would be great.

My favorite memory was sitting at Emerging Leaders a couple of weekends ago, and writing a letter to a member of my chapter that showed great leadership. This is a fav because it made me think of one special person who has always been there for me!

Welcome to Greek Chat Jessi and Brandi! Jessi.. we used to have TLC at BGSU every other summer and we all LOVE the shop that sells greek stuff there! In fact, we got them to come to our IRD last year because they have such great merchandise! I'm in Southeastern Michigan .. not too far away!

kattyjoon24 04-18-2004 09:20 PM

Hi my name is Kathy and I graduated in 2003 from the Delta Tau chapter at Chapman University in Orange, CA. I joined AGD because I thought it would be fun to start a new sorority on our campus and I wasn't disappointed. All my close friends are Alpha Gams.

Hey everyone! This is my very first post I just joined today!!! I'm am sooo excited to hear about all the other chapters and talk to alums!!! Well anyway, here is some info about me!
Name: Jeri
Chapter: Beta Omicron @ Illinois State University
Pledge Class of Fall 2003; Philanthropy Coordinator
Why I joined AGD: The reputation on campus for AGD is really respectable. When I asked around about houses before I began recruitment, no one could say one bad thing about the AGDs. While I went through recruitment I saw why. These girls were just so down to earth and genuinely nice, I could tell that it wasn't fake. I just knew that this was the house that I wanted to be a part of!
Fav. memory: The night of bid day a bunch of the older girls took our pledge class out to restuarant that was an hour away that has the best chicken you could ever have!!! It was just such a great way to start out a lifetime of fun that I will have with these girls!

mu_agd 04-19-2004 06:47 AM

welcome to all the new alpha gams on the boards. i hope you can contribute more to our fabulous forum!

2) The Delta Omicron Chapter at University Nevada at Las Vegas
3) Collegian
4) My favorite memory in AGD is every moment I spend with my sisters. From Serenades, to Pre-I, to Initiation, to Wednesday nights in the Dining Commons, to intramurals, to parties, to meetings, and everything in between. I love and respect everything my sisters do and and am so honored to be and Alpha Gam.

Hello! I've posted before but I haven't introduced myself. My name is Sara, I am a collegian. I love AGD. Its amazing. The people are amazing, the memories, and the good times and the bad. I've only been home from school for less than a week and I already miss it. I can't wait for the fall. I joined AGD because I felt accepted from the moment I walked in the door. I loved the spirit, I loved how all the girls were so different but had the common bond of sisterhood all the same. I love how my sisters support me and will do just about anything for me. My favorite memories of AGD are probably the times when I'm just hanging out with the girls and talking or what not. The favorite times have far outweighted the bad times (which are very few). I can't wait for the times to come!

Have an awesome day!

Sara

Alpha Gamma Delta Roll Call

Good Morning! I just found out about this site (waves to Marissa). Can't believe I'm such an Internet geek and didn't know... Anyway, my name is Julie and I'm an alumna of the Zeta Nu Chapter at Alma College, Michigan. I'm also the Chapter Advisor - 8 years and counting. I recently moved to Maryland, so I'm going to have to turn over my girls and move on to other projects for the Fraternity.

Glad to be here!

Welcome Julie! Just as an aside, these women should know that Julie is the one who completely set up our discounted rates and organized the Alpha Gam train to Chicago for all of us Michiganders! She's a great lady!

Hi everyone! I just found this website today and am very excited to join a board that my sisters belong to. So to begin...

Name: Holley
Chapter: Theta Delta (North Georgia College and State University)
Pledge Class: Spring 2003
Why I joined AGD: NGCSU holds recruitment during the spring semester. I knew I wanted to join a sorority but I didn't really spend a lot of time going to the getting to know you events the greek held. I was being "dirty rushed" by my CA who was part of another organization. I went into recruiment weekend with a completely open mind. After the first night I was leaning towards an organization other then AGD but something about Alpha Gam really hit me. The second night, theme night, I knew where I was going. I was going to be an Alpha Gam. I met the girl who became my big and she just changed my life. I was no longer torn. When I went to my first pref part on Sunday night (the other organization) I was the only girl who was not crying. The girl who was talking to me asked if I knew where I wanted to go and I said yes and I am going there next. My friend Emily who I had known since the beginning of the year preffed me. She wrote me a letter and together we just bawled our eyes out. When I ran down the drill field the next day into the arms of girls who would become my sisters it was just the greatest feeling.
Favorite AGD memory: Recruitment 2004. As exhausting as this weekend was it was SO MUCH FUN. It made me SO proud to wear my letters and see the faces of all of the women coming into our room and learning what Alpha Gam was all about.

-Holley :)

AGDLynn 06-20-2004 04:02 PM

WELCOME HOLLEY!

I met another TD today at the pool!!! I was soaking up some HOT sun and this girl walks by wearing AGD flipflops! We talked about how well your chapter did during Rec. last Jan.:D

She works at the pool so hopefully I will see more of her. She said there is another AGD from here.

I won't post her name here in case she is a Rho Chi or whatever y'all call them

Cute girl!!

roll call!

1) Nicole
2) Gannon University, Zeta Gamma Chapter
3) Collegian
4) I joined AGD because I had made friends with quite a few of the sisters over time and decided that I wanted to know firsthand what the stuff they talked about sisterhood was like. I didn't go to any other houses for recruitment, partly because I was lazy and partly because after going to the AGD house I knew that was where I wanted to be! :)

My favorite memory is something special between me and a few of my sisters, so I'm not going to post it, but the key phrase is "Thursday night."

AGDana 07-21-2004 04:46 AM

Hi ladies... I just joined this a few minutes ago, so I don't really know what's going on. But anyway...

1) My name is Dana
2) Beta Xi Chapter, Purdue University
3) Collegian
4) I went through formal recruitment and it wasn't such a good experience... there were two houses on the second-to-last day that I really liked, and I didn't get asked back to either of them on the last day. So I dropped recruitment and went back to my dorm and called my mom crying. So then I tried informal, and found out that AGD was doing COB... they were one of the two houses. I didn't think they would take me, because I figured that since I didn't get a bid in formal recruitment, why would I in informal?!?! But I went anyway... and they even brought me my bid first (out of all the girls they were giving bids to) because I am on the crew (rowing) team, and they knew I had early practice and didn't want to come late and wake me up!!!!!!!!! I thought that was so amazing!
My favorite memories are just sitting in my room with my roommate and sisters (best friends) watching movies and eating pizza and dancing and laughing... and tailgating before football games... and sneaking into the kitchen with my roommate at 4am for some pork chops... there are so many I could go on and on.

ktmac63 07-22-2004 05:53 PM

1) Katie
2) Gamma Phi, Georgia Institute of Technology
3) Collegian
4) I joined AGD because of the amazing women in my chapter - while I enjoyed spending time at other houses during Recruitment, I felt most at home at AGD. I had a connection to home through one of the sisters (I'm out of state) - I had gone to the same high school as her and graduated with her younger sister, and this girls of Alpha Gam were just so welcoming. My favorite memory is of IRD - I was sick as a dog, had to go but wasn't looking too forward to it, but the second I got there and was with my sisters, I felt 10x better. Then I recieved an award, which surprised me a lot, and I felt so loved by all the women in the room.

Roses & Pearls 07-23-2004 12:46 PM

Katie-
You ROCK!! Everyone does love you. Just wanted to let you know... and mad props to Gamma Phi for all of their awards at convention. I am so proud of you all! :)

Hey I joined last week I think.
My name is Alex
I am a Junior at Mercer University, Gamma Iota
I joined because I felt wanted because I was me and not as a number. My favorite Alpha Gam memory- there are many! The Homecoming parade where I found my Bear Pride. My all nighters making banners with Lindsay and Mel. Too many to name!

Alpha Gam just felt like the place where I belonged. At the beginning of rush I was interested in other chapters but throughout the process I realized that I was always the most comfortable with the girls of AGD.

I don't remember if I already did this or not.

Daphne

I joined because the girl I took the bid b/c the girl I talked to at Pref. night (my later big-sis) really seemed to click with me. I stayed in it b/c I realized that Alpha Gamma Delta clicked with me.

4) Last fall, my really good friend decided to rush all 3 sororities on campus. In the end she fell in love with the Alpha Gams and decided to become a part of their fraternity. When it was time to COB in the Spring, she begged me to join also. I was a little leery at first, because I had some misconceptions on what went on in sororities. I decided to go ahead and go to a few events just to meet the girls and think about it. The moment I walked in and was greeted by everyone, I felt welcome and accepted. I honestly had a lot of fun and couldn't believe I had so misjudged everything. I also realized that a lot of girls in my sorority were in other classes I had, so I was already acquainted with them. I pledged Alpha Gam and was initiated last May. I'm still pretty new at it, but I look forward to the years ahead. :)

I joined AGD because it felt like home all during recruitment. I already knew a couple of sisters from high school and classes we had together but I just remember leaving AGD after every rush party and knowing it was the place for me.
I definitely don't have one favorite memory because there are so many but one of the newer ones happened last semester when our basketball team was in the NCAA tournament, a bunch of us followed the team to Buffalo and East Ruthersford. Now that we are juniors, we have the option to move off campus and most of my pledge class all moved into the same apartment complex so I know there are going to be many, many more memories to come.

I joined last semester (spring 04) because i wasnt happy with the friends i had my first year of college, so when second semester came around i decided to do something about it. and i met the AGD rush coordinator through a friend at work, and she talked me into rushing. and i loved it from the start! definitely changed my whole freshman year perspective around :D

One of my best memories is a formal recruitment last fall, after we set things up some of us sat around telling stories, had some laughs and some tears, but it brought some of us closer.

I joined Alpha Gam in the Fall of 2003, and I did it after the Preference Ceremony during Formal Recruitment. I met the woman who would become my Sister-Mother ... and instantly fell in love. I wanted to be a part of her love and loyalty to the other women in the room. She seemed so sure, and so confident with her sisters by her side ... that I couldn't wait to be a part of it.

UASquirrel 09-22-2004 11:54 AM

My name is Brooke

I am from The University of Akron, Omega Chapter

I am an Alumnae :)

Why did I join Alpha Gam? From the moment I first walked into the house I felt comfortable and at ease. The other sororities on campus were wonderful, but there was something extra special about Alpha Gam. During Recruitment, the current AGD President read "Alpha Gam Girl" and at that moment, I knew that Alpha Gam was where I belonged!

My favorite Alpha Gam memory is so hard to choose. Inititation was so beautiful, I think I will choose Inititation Day! :)

alphagamgirlGU 10-04-2004 09:59 PM

1) Amber :)

2) Gannon University ~ Zeta Gamma Chapter

3) Active Member (Junior Standing)

4) Let's see, why did I become an Alpha Gam? Well, it was a hard decision to make because I have a really close knit group of friends back in my hometown, and by joining a sorority I didn't want to make them feel "replaced." So instead of participating myself, I watched a lot of my friends from the freshman dorms go through Spring Recruitment and then the New Member Process after they got their bids, and I was so jealous! They were always having so much fun and it seemed like they had this huge support system, where no matter what the situation or time, there was always someone there for them! And I wanted that! So, needless to say, I was there for all the recruitment events in the fall, I got an invitation, and here I am today! And I'm having an absolute blast!!!! :D

hey, i'm new :)

hi everyone!

i'm kat, and i'm from zeta nu chapter. i'm new here to greekchat; i'm more a livejournal kind of gal [i post on the alphagammadeltra community as kathleeniefont]. anyway, it's great to meet new sisters. i know i enjoyed meeting a lot at convention this year, hopefully i can get to know some more!

1) kat
2) alma college, zeta nu chapter
3) collegian...only one more year of playing. :(
4) i joined because something during formal recruitment fit right. i can't really describle it better than that. i think it was during desserts when the chapter was reciting the purpose where i went "wow, these are the things i believe in, and these women are so wonderful."

my favorite memory...that's hard, there are so many good ones! but i think my favorite memory was going to convention in july with the rest of our ec, and hitting it up in my favorite city. we kept a long list of funny things that were said/happened, and everytime i read it, i still laugh.

I'm the same way with my Chicago memories. I look at all my pictures and I wish I was with all my sisters again. I really had the time of my life...and Chicago's my favorite city now too. :)
