Agreed....oh the things Adam will do with his hair this week...

ASTalumna06 04-26-2009 02:22 PM

I loved Danny in the beginning. His audition was amazing, and in the rounds following that, he did very well. But it almost seems like... the big stage intimidates him. It's as if he doesn't know what to do with the space.. if that makes sense? He really has an amazing voice, and if I heard his songs on the radio, I'd probably be blown away. But I've agreed with Simon's comments about him. When he does a "big" song, he doesn't seem to know if he should walk across the stage, dance.. whatever. He just seems awkward. Which is why he probably picks slower songs so often.

I didn't like Kris at first, but I've definitely warmed up to him. Him and Adam do their own thing, they're original, and in very different ways. I think it would be interesting and fun to watch if they were the final two.

nittanyalum 04-28-2009 08:29 PM

Though I haven't been an Allison fan, she did just give me goosebumps. But I still think she's the low-hanging fruit. I predict she or Matt will go this week. It's a talented top 5, they'll all get something out of this, I'm sure. I think it could end up a Kris - Adam finale.

amanda6035 04-28-2009 08:32 PM

Some people may say that simon was being harsh, but I thought he was softening the blow for the fact that Allison is still up against some REALLY good people. I still wish for an Adam-Allison finale, but I doubt it's going to happen.

nittanyalum 04-28-2009 08:42 PM

Shocked. SHOCKED at Simon's super-positive review of Matt. I thought he was going to bury him. It almost makes me wonder if he is somehow gunning for Allison, since he said he's "worried" about her when she clearly had a strong performance, but he called Matt's so-so performance "brilliant".

Why so shocked?

The judges have spent the entire season pumping up just a handful of contestants while ignoring fantastic performances by others. They have been aiming for their Adam-Danny finale since the top 13 were named.

I agree that Allison was superb tonight... and isn't this a singing competition after all? Why couldn't Simon just pay her a compliment.

Oh, and Adam- singing now- waaaaaaaay too over the top. Go get a gig in Rent or Cats. That song would never be on the radio.

Oh and Hi Nittany- hope that you had a nice birthday!:)

nittanyalum 04-28-2009 09:03 PM

True, it is easier and easier to see the preferences of the judges. Simon's just getting transparent, tho. Danny brought home the end to his song, I still think I preferred Kris overall, Adam will still win though I agree he oversung the song tonight. But the boy can still sang.

And HI Blondie! How are the munchkins? I did have a good bday, thanks! I was traveling, but it was still good! :)

ComradesTrue 04-28-2009 09:23 PM

Yes, I agree 100% that Adam can sing. However, as I have stated before, he just has not been able to shake those theatre roots. Don't get me wrong- I *love* the theatre. Love, love, love the theatre, and would love to see him score some prime roles on Broadway. However, for me, (channelling my inner-Randy there!) I feel that the others more personify what this competition is for, and I would much rather pay to see them perform as him in a solo show. Plus, I am probably a tad more hard on him just because I am sick and tired of the lick fest the judges are having with him.

Kris has had some absolutely tremendous performances that have yielded little more than a yawn from the judges. Simon completely disregards amazing vocals from Alison to point out that she is awkward in interviews. Yes, yes she is rather awkward. She is also 16/17 and just needs a little coaching and practice. Matt also has talent oozing out of his fingers, but most weeks that is not acknowledged either. On the flip side, errors (pitchiness, tempo, etc) by Danny have been glossed over by all the judges this season.

I have come to expect Simon providing a little "guidance" to the voting public after watching this show for so many years. However, this year has been far, far worse than any others, and I just feel bad for everyone in the competition that have come up short on the Danny/Adam stick.

End of rant.

That just needed to be quoted. ;)

I'm enjoying the talent this season in general as it's been fun tv. The real test, would I buy any of their albums? Most likely not. In all of the years I've been watching the show, I've dropped coin for exactly two Idol-alum albums -- Kelly Clarkson and David Cook.

adpi*violet 04-28-2009 10:46 PM

I really dislike Adam... and have from the get go. But I know I am in the minority and he will probably win the whole darn thing.
I'd love Kris, Danny and Allison to be top 3, then any of them top two and win it all. Probably won't happen though. :(

Same here. While I won't deny he has talent, I just am not an Adam fan. Unfortunately I'm sure he will wind up in the top 3. I'm hoping with Danny and Allison, but who knows.

a.e.B.O.T. 04-29-2009 02:07 AM

I think there is one weird consistency through everyone's comments, people are split on Danny and Adam... most think Adam is going to win whether they like them or not... but the one who seems to have the most people in the favorable position is Kris Allen... are there any big Kris haters?

I don't hate Kris, but I just don't understand what's so special about him. Except for his performance on Disco Week (which was fantastic), I don't think any of his other performances were that great. He seems like the type of guy who plays his guitar at a coffee shop and then you leave and forget about him.

I think Matt is much better, but he's not cute like Kris or Danny...Matt's is the only album I would buy. (of past Idols, I've only bought Kelly Clarkson's and Daughtry's)

Well, I agree... I think he has the Jason Castro role of this season, boyish looks, limited vocals, but does a hell of a soft rendition behind the guitar... he has stronger vocals than Jason, and is much more confident, but it appears that that is his role in this season... I feel like Kris CD would sell at Starbucks, fits right in with that music... I am not an uberfan of Kris, but if I miss the show, I dont find myself fast forwarding through his performance. I dont think he had a terrible week yet, they have all been at least good, not necessarily great. I think the consistency says something...

I think this is a tight race this year and anything can happen. Dialidol has not been able to make a prediction for a couple of weeks now, and that is highly unusual. I think where the Anoop and Lil fans go will also be interesting, because we have twice as many fans shifting their vote as usual, so this could be an interesting swing vote tonight. I still predict Matt is going home, but I think Kris and Matt will benifit from the Anoop fans, which means Allison could be in some trouble, as she definitely will not pick up the Lil fans unless they are hard strung on voting for a woman

Wow, Kris or Adam go home, I will be really confused, because I think most people were pretty confident it would be Matt or Allison to go home... It also makes me think, the whole adam is going to win attention whether i like him or not needs to shift to Gokey... because although he was decent last night, def. not his best but got more votes than Kris and Adam...

I think there was a little bang with Adam being in the bottom two. He's been such a golden boy thus far I was surprised. But I definitely think the right person went home tonight - I wasn't a fan of Matt's performance last night.

Well, yes, a little bang was there... but I am putting money on the fact that NOW, he will be the one next week that is not in the bottom 3

I think you're right that he is more theatre than pop star. But I don't want to see him in the theatre either. I just find him über-annoying.

Frankly, that's how I feel about all of them. (Except, as noted, Adam -- he's the guy in the communuty theatre play who's got a really good voice but is just way too over the top.) Not a one that I care about hearing again -- which I guess explains why I didn't bother to join the family watching this week.

Thetagirl218 04-30-2009 07:51 PM

I did not like the theme this week, I was bored most of the time, and skipped through with tivo....

Adam's preformance was great, as was Danny's....Adam should not have been in the bottom 2...No way....

ComradesTrue 04-30-2009 08:14 PM

^^^ I too loved the theme, but then again, I have loved that type of music for quite some time.

While it was nice to see Adam in the bottom two, I fear that it will mobilize all his fans (who are they again???) to keep him safe next week.

I am pulling for the underdogs- Kris and Allison.

That is usually the way I go, for the underdogs, not because for the fun of their success, but usually, the ones I like are the underdogs by default. This season, rarely, my fave is not an underdog... HOWEVER, I love the underdogs too, i think kris and allison are great as well... so I guess one would say that I am rooting anti-danny... therefor, i am rather positive danny is going to win...

xSarah47 05-01-2009 08:50 PM

Winner

Adam is going to win the whole thing, he has such a HUGE fanbase, it's unbelievable.
For example, his video from this week's performance on youtube has 118,221 views, and the next highest viewed video from this week is Danny Gokey, 35,617

118,221 compared to 35,617....maybe it's just me, but I'm seeing a pretty BIG gap there.

Are you 12?

ETA: I'm not surprised.

I wonder what draws these random ass people to GC?

I understand the Gokey appeal (just dont agree with it)... but after last night, come on... from the weird DooDooDoos to the 10 second screech at the end, you have to say he was the worst performance of the night... I feel he is safe due to the huge net of fans he has under him, and Kris is likely to go home, but seriously... I want to see some Gokey fans defend that...

srmom 05-06-2009 03:31 PM

No lie! My ears bled after that "note" he screamed at the end!! I don't think Kris did himself any favors either though...

It's a shame, I really like Kris!!

Kris played it safe, not really spectacular. He was totally not comfortable during the duet, which makes me think that he did not want to do that song... At the same time, Matt fans are going to go to him and Gokey... and with Gokey's bad performance, they could go to Kirs... Anywho, I think Kris is probably going home, but the Danny going home predictions are making me giggle...

Allison had a good night, but that could be a downfall with everyone thinking she was safe... Adam however, is definitely safe, the Glamberts, I am sure, were out in full force last night with bleeding fingers...

srmom 05-06-2009 04:05 PM

Yeah, I thought that was Allison's best performance. She should definitely do the rock thing... She's definitely a better singer than Miley Cyrus for heaven's sake!!

My 17 year old son, who does NOT watch AI (in fact gives me unmitigated heck for doing so) heard her and thought she was pretty impressive. He is a HUGE music snob, as most 17 year olds are, so that's high praise ;)

I hope she makes it another week

PeppyGPhiB 05-06-2009 04:12 PM

Another great performance by Allison. Something hit me last night while watching Adam. His Led Zepp/Axl Rose style only works with a BAND. He's clearly a rock guy, but how the hell do they plan to market him? His over-the-top style won't work as a solo act - are they going to hire out a band for him? Allison's voice and style are flexible enough for a solo act.

Do you mean he has to have a band with him on stage? Either way, I have two words: Mad World...

ZTAngel 05-06-2009 07:58 PM

Hey Kara, since when is "Dream On" considered not to be early Aerosmith? "Cryin" and "Crazy" are considered newer Aerosmith. You say you know a lot about music but yet you had no clue that "Dream On" came out in the 1970s....about 20 years before "Cryin" and "Crazy."

Sorry but Kara annoys me. I hope they get rid of her next season. She adds absolutely no value to the show.

a.e.B.O.T. 05-06-2009 09:40 PM

Kris Allen is safe? This is going to be interesting... If Allison is SAFE, she will be sent next to add more suspense, if she is not safe next, she is gone... this is too exciting...

And she was in the B2, and she is gone

amanda6035 05-06-2009 10:05 PM

the next 2 weeks are going to be boring now.

PeppyGPhiB 05-06-2009 11:35 PM

I'm done watching now.

ASTalumna06 05-07-2009 12:47 PM

Ok, even Gokey admitted that he sounded awful. But he still made it through? Wow.

srmom 05-07-2009 01:34 PM

Oh well....

I do think Allison will have a future in the music industry. It's amazing that she's only 17 and sounds like that.

I thought her sing-out last night was amazing - much more emotive and she hit all the right notes!!

Not always, but final 4 has been known for some shock eliminations (Chris Daughtry, Latoya London, Tamyra Grey...) so I was hoping Gokey goes home... too bad

Even with that, I am excited to see next week. Usually, the final 2 is pretty obvious, and the 3rd wheel this week usually relaxes and delivers there best performances even if they have been just ok the whole season, or they really push themselves so they can crack the top two (Nikki McKibbin, Kimberly Locke, Syesha, Elliot Yamin, Jasmine Trias all did some of their best in the f3 performance)... So, expect some awesomeness out of Kris Allen...

This time, however, for the final three, each contestant will only be singing 2 songs. The producer's pick is out. I guess because they know they can not handle 9 songs in one hour without going over.

srmom 05-07-2009 03:32 PM

Is there a theme? My DVR went off before the end.
