Last night was the first open bid party for Gamma Gamma and I hear 15 ladies showed up! That is an excellent turn out for us!

FAU news... Quota was set at 14, there are 4 sororities. Phi Sig got 4 girls this year while 1 sorority got OVER quota. 1 got quota and one got 10. We dont know what happened :( We are practically COB queens though, so we can pick up more by that. We have the best retention rate on campus and best gpa, but those didnt seem to be very good selling points. Oh well, hopefully we do great with COB!

Actually, I re-read the title of this thread... not to take it too seriously, but remember, recruitment is never over, haha!

Clarion update: last check, we had 8 ladies sign bids, with 2 still outstanding and open bids this coming week.

I actually went to a chapter meeting tonight! yay, first time in over year!

Anyway, DE update, they held 3 "first" info parties last week with a total of 35 women showing up altogether. This week they are holding their "second" info party...unfortunately, for convenience, bids still won't be given til about Sept 26th since they want to have a few more info parties and make sure they get to know the women.

One cool note, my sister babs, an alum, was at an info party and said the dynamics were great. All the PNMs just stayed even after the party was done! They just wanted to hear more from the sisters about phi sig! I think that's great!

(btw no formal recruitment for us(if you haven't guesed) - we do have another NPC, but we both do informal and COB)

If they even get half of those women who came out, that'd be awesome!!

Hey, sorry to burst into the conversation. According to the Green Book, or the Red Book for our Canadian sisters ;), you round up if you have an odd number of PMs participating.

Fire at CSUDH Student Union
 

Argh!! Now I have a slight rant regarding recruitment. There was a fire this weekend in the CSUDH Bookstore which is part of our student union. Thank goodness no one was hurt in the fire and the only part of the student union really damaged was the bookstore. However, while the building inspectors are checking everything out the building is closed until at least next week. Now the problem is we are supposed to have one of our recruitment parties in the student union. We're supposed to be informed of the new location for our party but haven't heard anything yet. In the meantime we also can't post any of our flyers up because they don't have the stamp from the Office of Student Life.

Argh. I know everything is going to work out but in the meantime a little panicing seems to be called for.

Heather I know how you feel that happens to us ALL The time at my ungreek school !! we table during the first few weeks of school handing out flyers and answering questions... WELL I've seen everything from people looking at the table and doing a HUGE circle around the quad to avoid it to people giving us these totally demeaning looks and being like "not interested" or just NO to no way in hell to being flipped off.. (this really happened one year) so all you can do is take it with a grain of salt and blame teh sterotype and their pea brains for not being able to get some information to see the stereotype is not true !

The Epsilon Iota chapter extended to 12, OH YES YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT....12 AMAZING girls. They are too cute...and wicked excited about it all. 5 minutes after they got their calls, three of them came into my room ( I live on the same floor as a bunch of them) and started jumping up and down and screaming. Lol.
