Artist set to be included in the musical star studded tribute video include, Beyonce, Mary J. [whitney houston] Hell to the naw [/whitney houston] if one note is sung or rapped by these people. And why are these people in the video? I understand if they're fans of Luther's. But why not Luther's peers like Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Frankie Beverly, The Isley Brothers, Smokie Robinson. I mean...

And some of these fols are fairly young and new. Have they really earned the right to be on this record? Examples would be Keisha Cole, Omarion, Jada Pinkett Smith, Ciara, etc.

It's the demographics. Vandross's fans will likely buy it because it's a tribute, and the death is still recent. Fans of these particular artists may buy it because they're involved -- so the producers figure they will be crip-walking to bank either way.

These people are the exact reason I WILL NOT buy the album. Unfortunately, they are a major turn off for some people. Like someone mentioned above, I'd love to see a tribute with Patti, Dionne, Gladys, and the like. Now, that's an album I'd buy :)

I was wondering if the producer of the video wants to make a GOOD video tribute or does he just want the video to be on 106 & Park. Since it will feature Ray J (Ray J !?!), Big Tigger and Cash Money (*faints*), I guess I know the answer to that question. :(

As for the album, no way IN THE WORLD do I want to hear Mary J. screaming her interpretation of a Luther classic. Ruben Studdard is another one that does NOTHING for me. :( :o

I will just go out and buy an actual Luther cd. I think that would be a fitting tribute. :)

JUST A REMINDER...In a few weeks, cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS...

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888/382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.

I just called...Hope it worked!

...Regarding K-Ci's hairstyle...(In best Office Space voice) Ummmmm, yeah, ummmmmmm......DID YOU GET THE MEMO?

...Regarding the Philly girl, that is sooooo sad. And yes, the same thing did happen to Laci Peterson and that sh*t was on ALL the tv stations for a GOOD MINUTE! Man, I guess I just don't understand. How do people (and by people I mean the people who are running the television companies, news stations etc) put a value on someone's life? How can you say one death is more important than another?  :(

Like other U.S. industries, decisions are made by the people “in the room.” I haven't seen the latest NABJ statistics (ST, can you help?) but I 'd venture to say most major US newsrooms are still overwhelmingly white, particularly the decision-making structures. I am not suggesting that anyone objectively says “we are not going to cover this latino/black girls' disappearance, like we did Lacys.“ But when the coverage allocations questions are asked, there is no one-or at least not enough people-- to say consistently, “why are we not bringing the same level of intensity to this situation that we brought to Lacey's or the Aruba girls?” The reporting imbalance is there and undeniable -CNN, MSNBC, etc. Most of us found about about LaToyia Figorioa (sp), and the woman before her (South Carolina?) from Black America Web, BET or some other minority-focused news source, or list-serv.

I know decisions are not made en masse, but I think the American journalism community looks to black folk for “athletic, comedic and entertainment expression” and probably not much more, besides the occasional paean to Oprah or Obama. They either don't realize or don't care that we, too, cry when our people go missing, or when soldiers who “look like us” fall on the battle field our hearts break as well. If they did, they they would walk the streets in our communities, bringing to our televisions the stories they so readily and consistently present from other communities. I don't ascribe sinister motives to anyone, but I've seen it--we all have--too consistently to let anyone say it isn't so.

OK, so I can see maybe Beyonce, Jill Scott, Wyclef, Toni Braxton, Usher, Brandy, TLC & Mary J participating in this tribute.

But...CASH MONEY? Lil Mo, Lil Kim? Ray J?

What is Big Tigger's talent?

I figure Gabrielle Union will be in the video. Maybe Will & Jada will be in the video also, showing the black luv thang.

Diddy? Is there a remix involved? I can hear him now saying "RIP Luther...Bad Boy Baby".

Thanks....I've just saved $17.99 + tax.

See, don't let me start. I'm over here singing this stuff in my head...

Usher: "Let me hold you tight...if only for one night.."
Diddy: "Take That...Take That"

Then, I figure Creepin' could be an R. Kelly remake.
