I was packing to move out of my apartment and I remembered this Express halter top I bought back in 2001. I've gained weight so I no longer wear a L but this shirt was an L. I tried it on and it still fit. Its sad though because I probably couldn't find anything in Express now that I could wear because they very rarely carry XL and the clothes are so cheap.

I tend to only go to Express when they have a sale. Its pointless to spend full price when a month or two later they reduce the price. As far as their Editor pants, I have had issues with only one pair. They let me return them for a new pair of equal or lesser value so I couldn't complain.
I've been shopping at Banana Republic more than usual. It may be more expensive but the quality is alot better. |
When I was in Boston I went into Express to buy jeans. Seeing as I'm a size 8, 5'1.5", and have both an ass and hips, buying jeans for me is never easy. I tried on every style of jeans that they have in the store and not one of them worked for me. When the saleswoman came up to me to see if I needed any help, I told her that I needed jeans and when she saw everything that I've already tried on, she basically told me that she needed to go help another customer because they didn't have anything for my body in the store. Lovely.

I went to The Express over Christmas - looking for basic work pants. I thought they were too expensive for the quality and fit - not to mention I would never ever get by wearing something like that in my office. I don't mind paying a lot for clothing, but it has to be good quality and something I will get a lot of use out of.
I was laughing out loud about the Charlotte Russe comments. Some of my girlfriends are nutso about their clothes and I've always thought they looked kind of trashy. Come on girls - we are in our early 30's and shouldn't try to dress like teen-agers. But the guys seem to fall head-over-heels for them rather than Miss Conservative Ann Taylor, Talbots, Harolds. (sigh) And I agree about all of the Limited stores hounding you when you walk into their stores. I think its fine to say hello, let me know if you need anything, etc. But I get so sick and tired of being followed in a store and hovered over. I'm embarrassed to admit this - my favorite sweater in the 6th grade was from the 5-7-9 store. lol Just my two cents. |
Has anyone had trouble returning pants to either Express or The Limited without a receipt? I bought a pair of pants from The Limited about two months ago, wore them twice and the hem has already come out of the bottom. I see that others have complained about that sort of problem in this thread so I'd imagine The Limited has to know about it. Just wondering if anyone has gotten a hard time from them when trying to return or exchange without a receipt.

They break the day into two hour "segments" and have goals for each segment: of general sales, bra sales, credit, and dollar amount per transaction. Its great to know I work my ass off doing thsi and get paid next to NOTHING while the people in Ohio at Limited Corporate get the benifits of great sales in the form of stock options and such. |
I actually went into Express the other day and found some cute dressy party shirts. They are gonna be my 24th bday shirts. Got them super cheap too!!!!
That's like the first time in years.... |
For some reason, Express men's dress shrits fit me really well. Sometimes they are $49 and then two weeks later they are $19. Another two weeks later they are back up at $49. Back in the day when it was 'structure' I wouldnt shop there because the clothes were cheaply made and not very cool. I bought a couple of the dress shirts there arfter a buddy reccomended I try them and I've been pleased with them so far.
The only store observation I had was that the place was filthy. All the stock looked like it had been laying on the floor in a warehouse and driven over by a forklift. There was also big ass dust bunnies all over the counter area by the registers. If you cant keep the store clean, why should i shop there? |
Random comment....
Has anyone else noticed the stench that comes from the bags they give you during their big sales? It's the bags they give you when you walk in so that you can put all the stuff you want to try on into them. They have a very mildewy scent. Every Express store I've been in during those sales have smelly bags and I've been to Express stores all over Orlando, South Florida and Metro Atlanta. You would think that someone at least one of the stores would notice and think, "Maybe we should send them for a round through the spin cycle...." |
I only purchase their Editor Edition slacks. As for anything else, NO. Their shirts are way too expensive, you can go to NYC & Co. and get the exact same top for 29.50
