That's the Progressive Canadians... their slogan is "Your progressive conservative party" (but that's MUCH larger on their signs). We have one in my riding... the signs are confusing for those "not in the know". There's talk of perhaps assigning party colours so that people aren't mislead.

There's one in my riding, but I watched the candidates debate and he didn't impress me much, although he did seem like a nice guy.

What does everyone think of there not being a media blackout this election?

At first I thought it was a bad idea. I might sway too many votes.
But then again, there isn't that much time difference in when the polls close, so I doubt it would have that great an effect.

Did anyone watch the beginning of the coverage on the CBC?

I thought it was great the way they played in the HNIC theme and the HNIC logo, but said Election Night in Canada :).

My boyfriend are going to take a break in a bit from watching the polls and go see Farenheit 9/11. It is going to be a night of major political discussions! But I love that sort of thing.

Well, speaking as a native Westerner, it was always annoying to turn on the tv at 6pm Mountain Time, and see that the election was in essence over already, so why vote? My friends out west appreciated not knowing until later, but what can you do this time around, eh? ;)

I think they have fixed that a bit by staggering when the polls are open. Ontario/Quebec (which is a lot of seats) now closes at the same time as the Praries and only a half hour before BC!

Considering that there are only 32 seats in the Maritimes and Newfoundland, I don't see much harm in reporting on those seats - especially since the Maritimes has the habit of not predicting the rest of the country (especially in close races like todays).

Do we have any GCers from the Maritimes? I can't recall any....

Nunziata is from my riding.. along with his wife and his sister... the whole family is in politics, and the rumors say equally crooked :) And before I get flamed what else do you call having your mistress on the office payroll.. even though she never showed up for a day of work?

Well it's a minority Liberal government.

I'm not thrilled, but I'm glad it's not a Conservative government.

I'm a little disappointed that the Green party didn't even get a seat, but I do hope they received enough votes to get some funding.
Maybe they can convince the independent from BC to join the Green party?

For a while there I did the the Liberals were going to run away with it. I wonder if the Liberals can count on NDP support?

Last I checked with the Elections Canada site, the Green is over 4%... which would give them funding. I think. I believe you get funding for every vote if you get 2% or more.

Green ended up with 6-7% of the BC vote. I was really hoping the "other" was a Green MP. That person is holding a lot of power right now.

The Liberals were a bit more ahead than I thought they would be, and I am glad they retained power.

I mean, he was bitching last night about how Scott Brison crossed the floor, this morning he was whinning about how the Liberals villified (sp?...his word not mine) Harper.
For the love of God McKay...the election is over, you won your seat, and the Conservatives were just as vicious as the Liberals. So why don't you STHU!
