Ugh, The Notebook tops my list.

JenMarie 07-17-2005 11:16 PM

Titanic (never understood the hype... the ship sinks guys!)
Star Wars Episode II (thought it's quite fun to watch on mute and make up the dialogue to it.)
Matrix... well the 3rd one. I can't remember what it's called. (I swear I was watching a video game.)

I absolutely cannot stand that movie...

There are way too many of these type movies for me to list.

If they cut half of the movie and just showed the sinking of the boat, it'll be a whole lot better. however, they have to keep the Kate Winslet nude scene.

Ditto for Stepford Wives. WTF was wrong with the scriptwriters? Are the women robots or are they brainwashed? It's like they had two different ideas, couldn't figure out which one they liked, and didn't have enough money to make two movies.

I would also add:

Star Wars Episode I (unless you delete all scenes with Jar Jar and the little kid. Yes, I know Anakin is a big part of the plot. I don't care. He sucked.)

Chasing Liberty (the entire plot can be summed up as: Mandy Moore is the president's daughter. She's in Europe. She wears capri pants. There is a boy there too.)

Most Quentin Tarantino movies (Lately the movies seem more about "I'm Quentin Tarantino and I'm so great, you should worship me" than any recognizable plot structure or character development)

Batman and Robin (Cheesiest. Dialogue. EVER. Plus, nipples on the Batsuit, ewww!)

Matrix 2 and 3 (Especially unforgiveable since the first one was so damn good. Everyone involved in # 2 and 3 should be ashamed of themselves)

Any sequel where the main characters are played by entirely different actors than the first movie. If the movie had anything redeeming about it, the original cast would have been willing to sign on again.

The Passion of the Christ - I felt like I was watching a 2 plus hours S&M video.

ms_gwyn 07-25-2005 06:21 PM

You guys are killing me on some of these films....while others are dead on....

but SW...come on...ROTS should redeem all in you guy's eyes...it was F**** awesome and after looking at it and watching the prequels, I "got it", I still don't see the whole jar jar thing (yea, many a people have tried to explain it to me, don't bother).

As one of my good friends put it (before ROTS) there were only 2 SW movies, ANH and ESB and after seeing ROTS, he gave in and said ROTS, now we are talking "hard nerdcore flow".

I will just shake my head and await the next SW Celebration, which should be 2007 for the 30th anniversary.

Napoleon Dynamite was AWFUL. I couldn't believe someone actually recommeded that movie to me.

Oh come on, for Christ's Sake...Rules of Attraction was really good - Moulin Rouge was awesome and Snow Falling on Cedars was AMAZING...it did take quite a different take than the book did - but it was awesome.

I read something an Indian Woman said once - how we as christians are so hapy just to let jesus have done all of our suffering - you had to know this film was going to be grosteque...i think it's AMAZING what he did with it...making you see what Jesus endured in his last days.

I'm blown away b/c there were great films in the lists...bad films I've seen:
Punch Drunk Love - But I want to give it another try - I don't think I was in the proper mindset to see it.
screamers - the only real film i've ever turned off
chucky - any and all
faces of death - i thought i was getting a scary movie - i turned this one off too after the first scene where it showed a heart stop beating.
thirteenth warrior - fell alseep in the theatre.
war of the worlds - not the worst movie ever, by any means - that's a bit extreme - but I really disliked this movie. the ending was horrible.

i generally try to find out if a film is god befoer i see it, so i've not seen too many really bad ones.

My feeling exactly about "Lost in Translation." One of the very few movies that we just turned off after about 30 or 40 minutes -- we figured doing laundry would be more interesting.

You have to watch Lost in Translation twice.

Trust me.

There's no way I'd put myself through that torture again. Seriously, Ms. MysticCat and I found it mind-numbingly boring.

I rented Be Cool this weekend because the previews made the movie look so funny.

I barely got through twenty minutes before turning it off.
