2nd sets is pretty casual still so Jeans and cute top sounds fine to me. I feel like at UM its always better to be a little too dressed up than underdressed.

And I understand your point of view. there is no sense in joining a house you absolutely wouldn't want to be a part of jsut to be greek. But for those houses that aren't necessarily your favs, you might end up loving them if thats where you get a bid from. One of my house's best sophomores was a bit upset coz she didn't get her top choice and now she's one of the reasons why my chapter is amazing. this is a girl that ALOT of houses wanted too. So see what happens. When you join any house, you'll be happy to have been a part of it if you can graduate and have at least 5 best friends who're there for you always.

Congrads on so many invites Pinklady! What wonderful news!

deadbear80 09-18-2003 05:40 AM

Hey pinklady! Good luck! It's great to see that DG's still in the running. My friend's mom was a DG at U of M a long time ago. And I'm the product of 2 Greek alums from U of M! My Mom was President of AEPhi there (I don't hold it against you for dropping them, I have NO clue what their chapter's like now:) ) and my dad was a ZBT. Plus, a former roommate of mine (post-college) was an Alpha Phi there--so I guess I know a lot about the U of M system!
When I was in high school, I stayed at the Sigma Kappa house for a couple nights when I was visiting U of M. What a beautiful place! It's the furthest from campus, I know. My mom says it was the DPhiE house when she was there; I guess there was house switching going on at various points there.
Anyways, good luck...and GO BLUE!

Good Luck on second sets--seems like you have some great houses left to choose from. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all your favorite colors stay in the mix!

Congrats on all of your invites and Good Luck in the next sets!!! :D

PS. I would dress to impress both days, you never know who will see you on campus. But out of two WOW outfits wear the one that makes you feel the most confident on Friday. ;)

Best of luck at round 2!

Definately dress to impress on both days. And as everyone else has said give every house a chance. Every house has its Ups and Downs, geeks, partiers, trouble makers etc. In all honesty sorority life is what You yourself make of it. I've known girls who have been in the "big popular houses" and they didnt think it was too great. I've known some who loved it also, just like I have known girls from the smaller "less popular houses" who loved it, but some who ended up not to crazy about it. Keep being open minded and don't let campus reputations possibly cloud your judement. Big thing to remember the Active members are just as nervous, if not maybe more then you are. They have to impress you too. Have fun and hope you get whatever house you want! :D

Tonight was the first day of second sets (house tours) i went to:

White: again my legacy house, i was surprised by how nice the inside of the house actually was, their mini-skit was kind of cute, i dont love the house, i dont dislike it, its in the neutral zone

Silver: i wasn't sure about this house going in and am still unsure about it, but the inside of their house is really nice, all the rooms have really cool wallpaper, haha, their sisterhood seems to be fairly strong

Green: still realllllly like this house, we didn't get to see as many of the individual rooms as in other houses and spent more time talking, their skit was really good, kept me laughing

Indigo: another house in the neutral zone, by far the most relaxed house of the evening, the girls were pretty straightforward this is who we are, this is what we do, etc

Tomorrow is the final 6 houses of second sets and I'm excited for that. This time next week is bid day, and hopefully i will be out celebrating with my new sisters (knock on wood)

Good luck! It's so interesting to read about schools with so many organizations when you're from a small one!
