Y'all are bringing back memories of my rush and the excitement I felt. I hope you all find the GLO that you will love as much as I love Kappa Kappa Gamma.

MTSUGURL 05-24-2003 07:19 PM

The hardest part at this point is reminding myself to be realistic and excited at the same time. I'm a junior, and I've never heard anyone from MTSU say that juniors and seniors are freebies. I expect to be cut heavily, but I"m still excited. I'm crossing my fingers, preparing all that I can, and keeping up the (hopefully realistic) optimism!

I am kind of feeling the same way!:( :D
I keep hearing some girls say that I wont be a "favorite" because I am a senior. It kind of makes me not want to rush anymore because I dont think that its fair that I already seem like I am not starting on the same level as the other girls. It seems like I am down below, while everyone else is above me. I wish I would have rushed earlier. Things just weren't where they should have been, and this is like the best time for me- unfortunately I am a senior.

I don't know what to do- but I think that next week I am going to go see if there is any information packet I can pick up

The nice thing about upper classmen rushing is that they are usually more dedicated and join for the right reasons. They also know how to balance activities and schoolwork.

I hope that the sororities at your schools recognize that, and if not, they are missing out on 2 wonderful girls! If it doesn't work out though, I hope you seek out Alumni Initiation. My best friend rushed at FSU and didn't get invited to Pref for any of the houses she really liked so she dropped out of rush... she may become an AI though when she graduates!

Thank you astroAPhi;)

I agree with what you said, this is the best time for me- and I really think I want to join for the right reasons. We'll see what happens.

So.... how many rush threads are we really counting on? I'd like to see some firm promises!! :) Please remember, we were each and every one of us in y'all's shoes, and we are VERY good at encouragement!!

Those of y'all who plan to thrill us with a rush thread, please stand up and be counted!!

Moxie 05-24-2003 09:29 PM

count me! and if you're lucky, i won't be too tired and will incorporate plenty of the MOXIE that is me, for an especially entertaining week.

MTSUGURL 05-24-2003 10:59 PM

You'll get one from me, but it'll be undera different screen name. I've met several wonderful women from MTSU by way of GC, and I think it would best for me to switch names so I can be anonymous and all that fun stuff. That way, I can be honest about my reactions and feelings about each chapter.

smiley21 05-25-2003 08:53 AM

you will defintely get one from me. i have been looking forward to my own rush thread for months!!:D

carnation 05-25-2003 09:03 AM

I'll post another one for BlazerCheer and she'll say, "Mommmm! I am sooo embarrassed!" She won't have access to a computer during rush, though....she'll be at cheer camp when she's not at parties.

RedFox 05-25-2003 01:20 PM

You'll be getting one from me too :) However...I have a question: What can we say and what shouldn't we say when we post? Of course I'm not going to go into THAT much detail and be like ABC sorority sucks and they were so mean, but I will give me thoughts and stuff like that..anyone have any sample threads from earlier formal recruitment weeks that I could look at as sort of something to base what I write on? Thanks :) You all have been so supportive. I can't wait to rush!

smiley21 05-25-2003 01:48 PM

do what i am doing. go to search and type in 'rush stories' or 'rush threads'. when you get there you may have to go through several pages to the threads from last fall. there are tons of old rushee stories. i study them like a prayer book!lol

Moxie 05-25-2003 02:59 PM

to name names, or to not name names...

THAT is my question :D . this time, at least!
in reading past threads, i've noticed a difference of opinion regarding naming names of specific GLOs while the PNM updates during actual rush week. some say - name names! it helps us to understand and follow stories, and makes it more interesting!
others say - do not name names! it is not necessary!
both sides, however, seem to have some sort of agreement about one major thing - IF you are naming names, DO NOT say negative things about the named GLO. i mean, go ahead and say if you don't fit in, but don't say "they're ugly, stupid, smelly," etc! also, if an active from your school is reading the posts, you do not want to offend them!
so, unless the GC rush addicive community advises me to do otherwise, i think during rush week when i update on parties/invites/etc., i WILL name names, but not do any trashing GLOs. IF this is not suggested, i guess i could just use numbers...but even i might get confused if i'm doing that!
suggestions?

Re: to name names, or to not name names...

In some past threads, the PNM's will use numbers

ex:

House 1 - this was super fun

House 2 - this was fun too

etc.

and keep the same numbers throughout the process...

I personally think the numbers are fun because when i read the rush threads I'm all excited, *and* wondering WHO #1 is, #2, etc... it kind of leaves us in suspense... (especially during pref... like if there were 10 sororites on campus and you could pref two, it drives us all crazy in a good way.. kind of like "this is so exciting!!! but I want to know which one is #1, $5, etc. since it would be harder to narrow it down..)

but that's just me :)

I love the numbers, it's the next best thingto names, but make sure to keep them the same!

Ex:

Day 1

House 1 (really Chi-O)
House 2 (really Kappa)
House 3 (really Theta)
House 4 (really PiPhi)
House 5 (really ADPi)

if on Day 2, you get invited back to Kappa, Theta, and ADPi, make sure to leave the numbers 2, 3, and 5 so we can follow your story.

I also love the threads where girls would say (I'm going back to 2, 3, and 5, and got released from ChiO (or House 1) and PiPhi (or House 4). That way we have a better idea of who is still in the running!
