Book Description In 2005, Tyler Perry took Hollywood by storm. The movie he wrote, produced, and starred in, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, opened number one at the box office and went on to gross more than $50 million. In its first week on sale, the DVD sold 2.4 million copies. At the same time, Perry was starring nightly across the country in a soldout stage show he'd also written, produced, and scored-Madea Goes to Jail-even as another one of his productions, Meet the Browns, was touring nationally. Every week in 2005, 35,000 people saw a Tyler Perry production. His second feature film, Madea's Family Reunion, opens in theaters in February 2006. Now, this triple-threat actor/playwright/director, has written his first book, and it features his most beloved, most irreverent creation: sixty-eight-year-old grandmother Madea Simmons. Madea is at the center of all of Tyler Perry's work, and she's always unfailingly outspoken, dead-on, and hilarious. But in Don't Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings, Madea shares more than she ever has before- about herself, and about what she thinks of everyone around her. The topics inimitably covered by Madea (a term of endearment for "Mother Dear") include love and marriage, child-rearing, etiquette and neighborliness, beauty tips, health tips, financial tips, the Bible and the church, and, of course, gun care. She's brazen, feisty, and never at a loss for words, but at the heart of everything she says- and at the heart of all of Perry's work-is a resounding message of faith and forgiveness. Shockingly hilarious, surprisingly moving, and as rousing and inspiring as a great gospel show, Madea's words of wisdom, memories, and straight-up in-your-face advice will be cherished by Perry's numerous fans- and it all comes just in time for Mother's Day. Tyler Perry is about to take the publishing world by storm. |

Tyler Perry — playwright, producer and performer — may be the unlikely heir to Howard Stern's self-proclaimed throne of "king of all media." Perry's first book, "Don't Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings: Madea's Uninhibited Commentaries on Love and Life," will debut atop The New York Times' nonfiction best-seller list, it was announced Thursday. |

Be abundantly blessed. Message From Tyler Perry Date: Mon, 1 May 2006 06:14:41 -0400 Okay here's the big news. Many of you may remember a few years ago I was going to do a TV show. I was very surprised to find out that in TV when you go the traditional route you really have no control over your show. They tell you what to say how to say it, and when to say it. God forbid you try to say Jesus. This didn't sit right with me at all. When it comes to me and us, I feel like I know what we want to see so if it doesn't feel right to me I have no problems walking away no matter how much money. I was not about to go on TV and have you all talking about me saying this show is terrible...what was TP thinking. It wouldn't have been because I didn't give my ideas, but because they shot it down and I was out of there on the next thing smoking. With all of that said and because of your investment in me I was able to write produce and finance 10 episodes of my first sitcom called "House Of Payne." Allen Payne (Jason's Lyric, New Jack city) plays a fireman named CJ whose wife has a drug problem and burns down their house to cover their mounting debt. So, they have to move in with his parents Cassie Davis, and Lavan Davis form "Madea Goes to jail." CJ has two kids and he and the grinds have very different ideas about raising these kids. I wanted this show to be what my movies are, funny but serious with life lessons in them. Like my plays, but for TV. Do you remember those shows like "All in the Family", "Good Times", "Rosanna", and "Cosby". The shows that everybody wanted to watch because they not only made you laugh, but they had some heart. Well, this is one of those shows with heart. This was a huge gamble, but if I know anything I know my faith. And I know my folks, And that's why I did it. If you give it a chance I know you're going to love it. This has never been done before, not like this, but I know it will work. I'm always asking ya'll to do something, buy this book, pay to see my movie, buy a ticket to the play, buy the DVD. Well, now I can say this wont cost you anything, just a little of your time. Now, these ten episodes will run only in ten selected cities. If I had my choice it would have been all over the country. I'm working with a company that needs to know that people will watch it if it goes to the rest of the country. So it airs in New York and Houston on May eighth, and eight other cities soon to follow. Here is the schedule as I know it. As we get closer to the release date of your city, I'll send you some reminders. I hope I don't work on your nervous by then. (smile) If you are not in these cities and you know people in them, please call them and ask them to watch. New York - CHANNEL 9 MONDAY MAY 8TH AT 9PM THEN AGAIN AT 10PM THEN MONDAY THRU FRIDAY FOR TWO WEEKS AT 11PM Houston CHANNEL 20 MONDAY MAY 8TH AT 9PM THEN AGAIN AT 10PM THEN MONDAY THRU FRIDAY FOR TWO WEEKS AT 11PM More information on the following cities to come: CHICAGO JUNE 19 THRU 26TH CHANNEL 20TH PHILLY CH 17 TH JUNE 17 THR 24 TH WASH DC CH 50 TH JUNE 17 THRU 24 TH ATLANTA TBS CH 17 TH JUNE 7TH WVER WEDNESDAY 9 AND 9:30 DATES FOR THESE CITIES WILL BE IN JUNE STILL TO COME. DALLAS CH 21 MIAMI CH 33 BALTIMORE CH 54 RALIGH CH 28 P.S. Maybe you can forward this email to other people in the area. We need every body to watch. I know you're going to love it. |
Madea Goes to Jail to be released on video

I have the book, it is too much!!! Madea is hilarious in writing as well, but the stuff in there is really helpful. It's not all "self-help-ish" it's more like a heart-to-heart with grandma. One of the sections in there really changed my whole outlook on life (I just happened to read it at a low point). I'm doing 1000% better since Madea set me on a new path. If you need a hand up or just a good laugh, the book will give you both.

Union casted in Tyler's new movie (BV)
Gabrielle Union has been cast in 'Daddy's Little Girl,' Tyler Perry's next movie, which is set to start production next month. The movie, produced by Hollywood power player Reuben Cannon, has been described as a heartfelt, reverse Cinderella ("Cindefella") tale about a young, beautiful and successful female attorney who falls in love with a single father of three daughters who works as a janitor in her office building. Despite her father's strong objections, love triumphs in the end.
'Daddy' is expected to be released next February through Lionsgate, which brought Perry's previous hit movies ('Diary of a Mad Black Woman,' and 'Madea's Family Reunion' ) to the mainstream. "We believe that 'Daddy’s Little Girl' will be another commercially potent, richly rewarding addition to this franchise, and audiences will find his latest film as entertaining as the box office hits that Tyler has already created," said studio chief Michael Paseornek, who negotiated the deal. Union, who is a Neutrogena Clean & Clear spokeswoman, will next star in the Ryan Murphy-directed dramatic comedy 'Running with Scissors,' due out in October. |

News on House of Payne and new play--BV
The Browns are back! David and Tamela Mann will reprise the roles made famous in the Tyler Perry touring play 'Meet The Browns' for a forthcoming Perry production called 'What's Done in the Dark.' The play, written, directed and produced by Perry, will kick off in September in Baltimore and has dates scheduled in Detroit, New York City, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Atlanta. Rounding out the cast is singer D'Atra Hicks, Cassi Davis, Chandra Currelley and actor Allen Payne ('Jason's Lyric').
Speaking of Payne, his Tyler Perry-produced sitcom 'House of Payne' has been sold to the TBS network. The Ted Turner-owned cable channel has optioned 100 episodes of the comedy, which debuted in syndication in limited markets earlier this year. The series will air five nights a week on TBS starting in early 2007 and then run in syndication on Fox networks at a later date. In addition to Payne, the series will also star LaVan Davis, Cassi Davis and Rochelle Aytes ('Madea's Family Reunion'). Perry will also write, direct and executive produce the series. Rumor has it that Perry is planning next to develop a series based on his play, 'Meet The Browns.' |

I saw his latest play, "What's Done in the Dark" this weekend. Tyler showed the trailer for this film. IT.LOOKS.GREAT! It opens February 14th. The play, IMO, seemed very disconnected. It seemed like a rushed production, but Brown was Brown LOL. Allen Payne is a cast member, too. There had been rumors circulatimg that Tamala Mann and David Mann had passed away. That is not true. |
