My dad is a TKE. Other than that, my two nieces (by marriage) went through Recruitment because their aunt Dee is so cool and was in a sorority :). I'm fairly certain that one became an AZD at UNC-Wilmington. I don't know where the other is going to college. I don't have contact with them because I divorced their uncle. :( I'm trying to get my 9 year old daughter to get more info on them. She said that the one who went AZD had to quit because her grades got really bad but she thinks the other one is still in a sorority.

Miss those girls.. they're terrific!

Dee

Dad: Delta Sigma Pi (business) at Loyola-NO
Cousin: Delta Gamma at LSU
Cousin: I forgot which fraternity at LSU
Me: Gamma Phi Beta at Loyola-NO

So, I'm the first social Greek in my intermediate family. Yay for firsts! :)

People in my family like to make fun of me and my cousin for going greek. They think greeks are the stereotype. But i think they're starting to notice that thats not true.

Cousin: AOTT
Me: Alpha Phi, Delta Sigma Pi (Business Fraternity)

My older sister was the first in our family, then the oldest sister followed suit and became a charter member of another sorority. Then I came in. Some of our cousins became members, too, and hubby and MIL are also Greek; I'll try and remember them all:

Oldest sister: Phi Beta Chi
Middle sister: Kappa Kappa Gamma
me (youngest): Kappa Kappa Gamma
Cousin 1: Alpha Gamma Rho
Cousin 2: Alpha Gamma Rho
Cousin 3: Sigma Alpha
Cousin 4: Theta Chi (I think)
Cousin 5: Beta Sigma Psi
Hubby: Alpha Tau Omega
MIL: Chi Omega

I have a 6-month-old niece that we're already grooming for Kappa (my sister was holding her as all us Kappas serenaded my hubby at our wedding) and I can't wait to hopefully have a girl of my own to teach about Greek Life! :)

hopefully I will be the first, but not the last.

I'm the only greek in my family. Sigma K!

Sister Havana 11-26-2003 12:30 PM

Me: Alpha Phi Omega/Lambda Omega Pi (local co-ed) at Indiana
My dad: Tau Delta Phi at Illinois (that chapter later merged with AEPi there. I think there are some other chapters of that fraternity on the East Coast)

That's all I know of, although I have a cousin who will probably be rushing next year, and will be a wonderful sister anywhere lucky enough to pledge her. :D

My family's Greek affiliations:

Me: Kappa Alpha Theta
Mom: Delta Zeta
Dad: Big Bro for DZ (almost colonized LXA... but never came through)
Grandma: Chi Omega
Grandpa: Kappa Sigma

Mom's Best Friend/"Aunt": Kappa Alpha Theta (my ref!)

My grandma actually sat me down this summer and told me "Our family goes Greek, you will go Greek, if there's a Chi O or DZ chapter at your school.. you'll be in it." (There weren't chapters on my campus... but I did still go Greek!)

Dad
Cousin: Alpha Tau Omega

:D

TheEpitome1920 07-21-2004 06:47 PM

Mom: Delta Sigma Theta
Stepdad: Kappa Alpha Psi
Sister: Zeta Phi Beta

People always ask how does my mom feel to have 2 daughters who are Zetas, she doesn't mind at all! I bought her a 'ZPBmom' keychain!:D

RedhawkPike 07-21-2004 06:51 PM

my brother is also a Pike. We are the only "greeks" in our family.

Pink_Bug 07-21-2004 07:22 PM

I am a Phi Mu.
My brother (older) is a Sigma Nu. He is the reason I went Greek. I admire him so much and saw all of the great things that being Greek did for him.
No one else in my family has really gone to college so its just the two of us. Well my mother did but not to a university with Greeks. My husband is a Mason (and even though that is not a greek org he is certainly proud of his fraternity).
I do have a little Phi Mu legacy and hopefully she too will be a greek one day :) !!!!!
