Yes, and yes. But it is exciting to see so many registered. I think right now we're sitting at about 680, which is over a 10% increase from last year. :D

27 is not correct. They have 32. They probably havent fixed their website yet, but 32 is accurate.

The TCU campus newspaper prints ads that the sororites buy with lists of new members. Here is Friday's edition, which has the list- and for some, pictures- of the new member classes for Pi Phi, Zeta, Theta, AChiO, DDD and Gamma Phi. There is also a "Congrats Graduating Seniors" ad for Sigma Kappa... maybe that was run in error?

No edition today, so I suspect that the other houses will have their ads run in the next few days.

SWTX- here is hoping that a few more of your rec crew went Gamma Phi! (or Theta of course! ;))

U of Iowa: Greek Interest Up (?)

It seems that interest in Greek life is increasing at the U of Iowa.

http://www.press-citizen.com/article...k-life-surging

For IFC: this year, 263 men signed up for recruitment so far and they hope to double it in the next couple of weeks
For NPC: Sorority recruiting is up from 511 in 2009 to 740 this year.

THANK YOU - no Gamma Phi or Theta yet - but 1 Alpha Chi and 1 Zeta!

A little Iowa update. Preference is tonight. 250 girls dropped out after round 2. That's still a lot, but 33% is a lot better than 50%! Here's hoping they don't make up that 17% difference between now and the end! That should still put quota over 30 which is a vast improvement over 23 last year, but still means that it will pretty much take 2 full pledge classes to fill the beds in most of the houses. And still wouldn't get many houses to total.

and miles to go before we sleep...

Today was bid day at FGCU. Quota was 58 and we took 77.

Insane, I know.

Northern Kentucky University

I was in a Greek store near the University of Cincinnati this weekend, picking up a Tshirt for my son and the owner was talking about Northern Kentucky University rush, scheduled in the next month or so. Evidently they are experiencing the same bump in people registering for recruitment that we have seen at other schools this year.

She said that the women had been planning for about 25 bid day treat bags and are now re-ordering items to prepare for about 35 new members. She said the men are expecting a similar jump, and that the administration is talking of adding one NPC sorority and one fraternity. She said the majority of her business now comes from NKU students, not UC students, even though her store is walking distance from UC.

Currently NPC sororities at NKU include Kappa Delta, Delta Gamma, Phi Sigma Sigma, Theta Phi Alpha and Delta Zeta. There are also four NPHC chapters on campus, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho and Zeta Phi Beta---so it sounds like sorority life is really doing well there.

I know the administration is very supportive of Greek life because it is helping change the climate from strictly a commuter school to a more residential flavor.

It will be interesting to see if there is expansion news for Northern Kentucky in the next few years.

UW

^^^^ What's FGCU? Those are great numbers!

Today was BID DAY at the University of Wisconsin - Madison
Quota was 42, and all houses achieved quota, except, I believe, for SDT (on this campus, they usually choose to be a little smaller).
Gamma Phi Beta has 42 new members (and 3 legacies in there, too)!
I'm sorry I didn't specifically ask how many members each of the other chapters got, but, again, at least 42. Total at UW is 126.

I think it's Florida Gulf Coast University.... Great numbers for both that school and Wisconsin!

Its great but not great. One of the chapters did not make quota, even though it was much lower than it could have been for the amount of girls going through pref.

Update ZTA took 76.

FSUZeta 09-06-2010 10:18 AM

jenny, any idea why they set quota so low, what with the quota additions that tri delta and zta took?

Wisconsin

Tri Delta at Wisconsin reported 42 new pearls.

perfectinpurple 09-06-2010 11:22 AM

Over this weekend 1,291 women started the recruitment process at the University of Illinois!

I can't wait for next weekend and bid day!
