It's been confirmed that SMU recruitment has moved fall and will be from now on. Recruitment will be taking place starting on Labor Day weekend.
I had heard rumblings about this after this past recruitment but I didn't want to post anything until it was confirmed. It'll certainly be interesting after years of doing deferred recruitment.
It will be different, but should definitely be better. Deferred Recruiment sets up up so many PNMs for failure because of unrealistic expectations that they'll land in a top group, only to find out that's not true. And struggling chapters have been sh*t upon for an entire semester only to continue to struggle. I really hope it works out well.

While fall vs spring recruitment has been discussed a ton here, I think for SMU specifically it could benefit the sororities as a whole.
Fall recruitment will be interesting to watch for a variety of reasons. I’m wondering how THE SOCIETY (the group formed last year from rogue Kappa Alpha Theta members after their SMU chapter was closed) will fare?
They did surprisingly well this spring. And with NO Panhellenic rules, NO guidelines on summer recruitment and (apparently) NO shortage of money—will they continue to prosper or begin to fade away?
If they do well again, their beautiful chapter house will continue to sit idle and Dallas Theta alumnae will not be writing recs for young ladies entering SMU.
