In my opinion, I think both houses are the same. Both have courtyard areas, both have multiple buildings, both are old. However, Phi Sig's house (new Sigma Nu) is so close to campus, the bicycle cops just wait for people to leave drunk and get them in trouble. One side of the property borders on a university parking lot, and there are also parking lots across the street. I've also seen them do a DUI checkpoint right in front of the house. Besides the bars that are close to the old Sigma Nu house, it seems more quiet on that side of the street.

I, too, thought Phi Sig did a major renovation on the house....however, when I actually stepped foot inside, it didn't look as great as I thought it would. It looked like they just redid the facade of the house, changed it from an 60s/70s looking old Florida facade to a neoclassical brick front. And its not even real brick...you can knock on it and tell that it is hollow inside.

Only pic I could find. I think this looks about 100x's more like a fraternity house then their old one. That old one just looked like a regular family home to me. I assume it was larger inside then it looked.

Thanks for the info everyone.

"Renovated again" ? I kept thinking why would they renovate if they knew they were losing it? Haha, I just got it.

Just wondering as the new house design was INCREDIBLE.
We had a meeting yesterday to finalize the interiors. We also were able to tour the job site. The roof is on and the steel structure is complete. Some walls are up and wrapped in Tyvec. They have begun installation of windows. (The windows are 8 feet tall, so the light within the house is very dramatic.) The house is 4 floors, and with the dramatic 12 foot ceilings, it is a very tall structure with incredible views. The front elevation on Maple Street has 3 levels of porches (main level and 3rd and fourth floors) with views of both towers of Old Main. From the rear verandas and windows there are vistas of the hills in the distance. Several bedrooms have french doors leading onto the balconies throughout the house. The house sleeps 86 chapter members plus a house director. All members sleep in their rooms (no sleeping porches) and no room is larger than a triple.

The chapter will move in this January before Spring semester begins.

My room was 2nd floor, window all the way to right if you're facing the house. It was nice having the corner room because we had two windows, and a cross-breeze! We also have two roof decks/porches, great for sunning on warm days!

Cornell's houses are always so beautiful. As is the view of Ithaca from the hill!
