Jimmy Buffett
Does anyone know anything about Jimmy Buffett being a brother of Alpha Phi Omega, as well as being a Kappa Sig? Someone has posted a couple of times that he is and I was just wondering because in an old copy of the caduceus it had his interview and they didnt mention anything about it? Just wondering.

Jimmy Buffet is a Kappa Sigma. Look at his picture in the Bononia Docet in front of his old chpt house with the current brothers in the picture with him.

From what I was quickly able to find out from a google search, Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed service fraternity that has hosted Jimmy Buffet before, and he might of been a member of. Either way, APO is not a social fraternity, and Jimmy Buffet was definitely a Kappa Sigma, as many websites, including IMH, list him as an alum, as well as the tell-all picture in the Bononia Docet near the back of the book (I believe it is in the chapter listing section)

Buffet
I just learned that Jimmy Buffet pledged a non-social fraternity at one school. He then transfered to another college and pledged and became a Kappa Sigma and is, of course, a lifetime brother. Thanks.

I heard that at some of his shows, Buffet will hold up Kappa Sig shirts and stuff like that if there are brothers up front. Pretty cool touch, I'd love to talk to him about his Kappa Sig days.

Didn't he get involved with the fraternity through music connections? I read one of his books, and it mentioned that he got together with some bandmates who were Kappa Sigs, and that's how he got involved.

No longer a Kappa Sig
Get over it, guys. When I saw Buffett at the University of Alabama in 1978, someone stuck a Kappa Sig visor on the end of a crutch and handed it to him from the floor. Buffett took it, looked at, said "Man I quit that s--t a long time ago, I'm a GDI!"
Get over it frat rats, Buffett has dis-owned you!
