All I mean by that was that what is appropriate at Maryland may or may not be appropriate at your daughter's school (or elsewhere).

Recruitment in the Desert

I'm sure we will see it all going through recruitment. We always do. Here are some common things you find girls wearing during recruitment in the desert where temps will likely hover around 110.

Round One is 15 minutes long. On this day Chapter members are in a Chapter specific t-shirt, shorts and usually flip flops.

Round Two is our philanthropy day. Again the Chapter girls are in Chapter specific t-shirts, but they try to go a little dressier with their bottoms and shoes.

Round Three is their sisterhood/slide show day. The Chapters will wear sundresses. I personally HATE what my chapter picked to wear and the Recruitment Chair conveniently changed her mind and didn't run it by me. They will either pull it off and look really cute or they will look like a bunch of street walkers *sigh*

Preference
I picked a black dress, but it has interesting details in the hem and belt. Because of that I kept the accessories to a minimum. A lot of the Chapters at our school don't wear black. Several wear white and we wear red.

Bid Day
This is done late afternoon during the hottest time of the day. This is how most of the new members will show up WITH a water bottle

Why is it that my mind is thinking of miss_etiquette?

Holy Cow! Whoever said polyvore = crack was right! I have spent countless hours wasting time on it and I think putting together outfits on what NOT to wear may be even more enjoyable. This truly is a feast for the eyes!

I think I now need to go lead a productive life.

Rainbow tutu? Oh man.

These outfits are HILARIOUS and had me laughing out loud! You found a tutu, and those shimmery leggings are ALMOST sequin hose...these are great! Maybe we should start a new "what not to wear" thread? I agree that it is almost more entertaining to make ridiculous outfits.

I really pray that I never see a PNM wearing these.

Surely they'll stay on the runway...

Imagine trying to cross your legs in those. Ouch.

All I could think about the "What Not To Wear Pref Outfit" was: "Hey! It's a Pretty Pretty Princess Pref!"

Pretty, Pretty Princess was my daughter's all time favorite board game when she was little and on game night when she got to pick, well, you guessed it my husband and son were wearing the jewels and playing a long with us. I have some really funny pictures of them. Just don't get the dreaded black ring! Although the black ring would have been fab with a couple of those outfits

I never got very far with Pretty Pretty Princess because I WANTED the black ring. I thought it was the prettiest.

My mom read me Edgar Allan Poe as a child, so go figure.

I'm thinking it could be either:
1. Dress is quite short
2. The necklace... ugh.
3. Shoes don't match and are kind of ugly.
But the whole thing doesn't stick out to me as inadvertently bad like the others, or maybe that's just me.

The shoes are super high.

The dress is too low-cut (and probably quite short unless you're really short).

And, as you said, the shoes don't match.

But, on the whole, probably not as bad as sequined hose. You just probably wouldn't want to leave the recruitment function and be known as "the girl in the low-cut sundress in the sky-high heels."

I don't think it's on the same level as the rainbow tutu, but it IS too lowcut, too short, and the bling combined with it being too revealing makes it kinda trashy. Which is fine for going to a show or something, but not a recruitment party.
