We were always in a race with them for top in grades. My best friends (sisters) were DG's at University of Illinois-they were extremely strong there.

IowaHawkeye, you beat me to it! That thread is fairly recent, Caitlin, so you should definitely look into. I responded there, as well!
Basically, the DG's are sweet girls here, and very committed to their organization, which I admire a lot. Unfortunately, they are the smallest chapter on campus, probably hovering around 65 or 70 sisters when other chapters have 130 to 160. They only took 12 new members during formal rush (with quota at 42) but I hope they can take some more quality girls during COB. They are involved on campus, and very friendly girls. I hope their numbers are on the upswing!

DG was extremely strong at Kent in my day. I don't think they are quite what they were anymore but I know they are still up there. Their house is beautiful, they built it about 8 years ago. I seriously considered DG and actually had regrets many times that I didn't pref them instead of the other chapter I preffed with XO. But if I had, I might have put them first and then I wouldn't have been a XO......but I guess if I'd been a DG I would have been happy with it and not cared! Anyway, I was not very popular around the DG house in later times because of guy troubles, I sort of became known as "THAT Chi O!!!" But I got to know one of them who was dating my hubby's best friend very well when the guys lived together in the Delt house, and we became very close and still are. I think the world of her. Our DGs kind of had a reputation as being stuck-up and bratty, but I think it was more out of jealousy than anything. I definitely was interested in them and anyway, all of the best chapters at my school had that reputation at times.

Honestly, I really wanted to be a DG at Maryland. They were great girls who were down to earth and sweet.

Love the DGs here. If I hadn't gone AEPhi, I'd probably be a DG right now. Awesome, down to earth girls, respected by everyone, greek and independent alike.

On the positive side, I think that the Delta Gammas at Penn State are really sweet girls and the ones I've had in my classes seem to be smart as well. They try very hard to be active in the greek community.
On the less positive side, they're not considered a "face" house, and they aren't often preffed by the "must have" rushees but they seem really tight with one another and *that* is what sisterhood is really about!
I wish them good luck in the future!

ErikaXO -
In response to your question, we have 20 national sororities at Penn State and most of the houses do pretty well since our greek system is nice and strong. But just like any other school, there are the top tier sororities - These houses are very selective and pretty much have their choice of any PNM they want. The top 5 in alphabetical order are:
1. Delta Delta Delta
2. Delta Zeta
3. Kappa Alpha Theta
4. Pi Beta Phi
5. Chi Omega
Just so you know, the Chi-O's are great girls here! All so pretty and nice and fun but not cookie cutter at all!
