I second that, recs can only help you and I would encourage you to get them for as many houses as you can. Even if they aren't important on your campus per se, they can help get your name out. And don't be afraid to ask someone you don't know well for a rec, I know many people who wrote ones for me that probably couldn't pick me out of a crowd, but I had one for all 18 houses by the time I started rush.
