Sigma Nu at Santa Clara U?

What up guys...

I've heard some rumors and I was hoping someone here had heard something.

The rumor on the street is that Sigma Nu will be colonizing SCU next fall. Supposedly Santa Clara has eight Sigma Nu brothers that transfered together from another college, and have petitioned their National office to form a colony.

SCU currently has two national fraternities (Sigma Pi and Pike), one local called Californa Phi (Formerly an SAE chapter until they lost their charter), a dormant Theta Chi chapter (folded in 2001 due to drug problems), and several others such as NAK and Sigma Lambda Beta. The Greek system at Santa Clara is looking to expand, which is why this news is interesting.

Tri-Delt or KKG will be colonizing next fall for certain.

Sigma Nu has at least 3 other chapters within a 45-minute drive, at Stanford, San Jose State, and Cal.

Sounds like SCU is a fertile ground. HQ has been very aggressive in recent expansion plans. They should be granted the right to petition though. The new chapter at Longwood started out as a Sigma Nu interest group (by some guys that had just researched different fraternities and picked us) and THEN they contacted HQ. But to have 8 initiates start a chapter... I figure they'd jump on a deal like that.

I haven't "heard" anything though. If you really want to know the head of expansion/recruitment at HQ is Jeff Feighner(sp?). You can find him on the website if you look under Values Based Recruiting or something like that.
