GreekChatters from Texas

Everytime i read a post I look at the profile information that is posted under the screen name and I have noticed that we have a few Texans that are regulars on greekchat. It would be interesting to know what city you are from and where you are going to school at.

I am from Houston and I attend the University of Houston.

So lets hear from everyone else in Texas

AOIIAngel 11-17-2001 07:49 PM

Hey! I am from Ft Worth Texas. I am outta school now, but I did go to Tx Womans Univ. in Denton Tx.

carnation 11-17-2001 10:09 PM

Hi! This native Texan wishes she could be there!

prospectiverushee 11-18-2001 01:14 AM

I just moved to Dallas about 6 months ago. I'm not in school now either, but hope to go to University of North Texas for grad school

TechAPhi 11-18-2001 01:26 AM

Transplanted Texan...

My husband is doing his residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. We just moved to Georgia from Texas--originally from Houston (Clear Lake/NASA area).

We love Georgia, but miss our native Texas. :)

Jen

dzsaigirl 11-18-2001 02:19 AM

Clear Lake/Nasa

Whoa...you are from my area. I am from Sagemont, if you know where that is...

AggieDZ 11-18-2001 01:28 PM

I'm from Plano and am now attending Texas A&M University in College Station. Great school but, .....I miss the city!!!

TechAPhi 11-18-2001 09:48 PM

dzsaigirl: I absolutely do know where Sagemont is. Did you go to Dobie High School? (Or maybe Pearland? Or Friendswood? )

I am a Clear Lake High School grad. ;)

Jen

BobcatAZD 11-19-2001 12:15 AM

Hey Houstonj Girls

Whoa, what a crazy world this is. I am a graduate of Clear Brook!I now attend SWT, and I am curious too who the Sagemont DZ is. I bet she went to Brook, and if she goes to SFA or Swt I bet I know who your are. To my fellow Clear Lake girl, Jen, 5 of my Alpha Xi Delta sisters are Lake grads as well. I hope maybe we can chat it up some time hear on GC, and to the Sagemont DZ, if you want post where you went to high school so I can see if we're old buds!

equeen 11-19-2001 01:01 AM

Just moved back to my native Texas!

I was born in Plano...didn't live in Texas after my family moved away (I was an infant). I live in the Houston area, a leetle bit more to the south (any further south, and I'd run into the ocean....)

I must say, I LOVE Texas! :)

Didn't realize you went to UofH, bucutie...we should meet up sometime. :)

dzsaigirl 11-19-2001 01:14 AM

Actually, I went to Dobie :)

TechAPhi 11-20-2001 12:39 AM

Wow!

It's nice to see there are a number of people from southeast Houston. :)

BobcatAZD: that's unreal that five of your sisters are from Lake! How cool! We definitely need to chat one of these days. :)

Jen

BobcatAZD 11-20-2001 02:29 AM

Hey TechAphi,
I was just talking to one of them and she said that I needed to find out who you are so she can see if she knows you, her name is Renee Mossburg. And to DZSAIGIRL what university do you attend? Wjo knows maybe all of us SE houston girls know each other!

SweetestDiva 11-20-2001 02:48 AM

I'm from Beaumont, but I go to school at Baylor in Waco. :)

mmcat 11-20-2001 09:28 AM

aggieAXO 11-20-2001 10:22 AM

I LOVE Texas

I was born and raised in San Antonio and now live in Austin.
I have a friend that went to Clear Lake but graduated in 89'-long time ago so i doubt anyone would know her.

alphachiohmy 11-20-2001 12:37 PM

I am not from Texas originally, but I lived in San Antonio for 7 years. We lived near Sea World, let me tell ya we had season tickets for that place and when your 8 years old its the best place on earth. I went to St. Lukes if anyone knows where that is (off of Callahan). I went back to visit my old "best friend" on our way down to Padre for Spring Break in 99. I miss Texas, so all of you that are there now be glad your not stuck in the middle of cornfields in Southern Illinois. :)

XO_Princess 11-20-2001 02:44 PM

Hey all! I am from Dallas, but I'm in Galveston for nursing school (UTMB).I did my undergrad in Washington, D.C. at American University. I really don't like Galveston, but I do like Houston. I really miss Dallas though. :(

lifesaver 11-20-2001 06:11 PM

Me too...

I live in SA. Grew up on a ranch in the panhandle. God I dont miss that place. What sucks tho is that my mom sold our ranch and moved to Houston  halfway through college. THAT was a change. Small town to HOUSTON. I am slowly learning my way around there, and will probably end up there next fall after I graduate. Job opportunities are too good there. Just not looking forward to the bugs, humidity and traffic.

Will also miss being so close to the Hill Country. My school sets on the edge of two zones, coastal plains and hill counrty. Literally, the hills begin in lot 10, and go for 125 miles. They are so awesome, and provide for good hunting. Of course the hunting down by Alice, Freer and Cotulla aitn bad either. Just get more hogs and less deer down there. No hogs (Javalina) in the hill country. Mean suckers they are. Also its cool to drive in the hills. I can spend hours doing that. Its my escape. Next year my escape will be limited to the tollway. :(

Jen

TechAPhi 11-20-2001 11:53 PM

AggieAXO...

I tried to PM you, but got the following error message:

"This user's mailbox is currently full, and cannot be sent any messages until it is cleaned out. An email has been sent notifying the user of this. Please try your request at a later time."

Hope to "talk" to ya soon.
:)

Tell me about Texas!!

That thread is an oldie but a goodie! ;)

aggieAXO 11-21-2001 05:20 AM

Sorry Jen, I have cleaned out my mailbox and this message still comes up-any thoughts, how do I fix this??? Anyways her name is Susan Mao-we went to vet. school together. That would be so cool if you knew her, what a small world!!!

aggieAXO 11-21-2001 05:23 AM

prettyone 12-02-2001 08:12 PM

Hello everyone! I live in Carrollton, Texas and attend the University of North Texas.;)

DGMomofZeta 12-17-2001 08:21 PM

I'm getting in on this one late but while I live in Los Angeles now, I grew up in Houston, went to Texas Christian, where I met my husband. I already know Carnation is from Houston also, but the other side of town.
My daughter goes to Southwest Texas in San Marcos. I would love to return to Texas, preferably to the Hill Country.

Kevlar281 12-18-2001 01:56 PM

Well I haven’t posted in forever but I am in Houston (Clear Lake) as well. I just got done with my last semester at San Jacinto Central (Community College Hell) and finally got done with the transfer application process today. I will be attending U of H in the Spring.

DGMomofZeta 12-19-2001 05:41 PM

Hootie, she loves it. She is a Child Development major and they have a great department. She considered A&M and did not have enough hours to transfer from junior college out in LA, and she got accepted at TCU but did not really want to go there. SWT seems to be alot of fun, and the Zeta Chapter seems to be one of the strongest on campus.
SWT does have a bit of a rep as a party school, but then I have decided so do most schools, lol.

I really tthink you'd like it too. its awesome there. Probably one of my favorite campuses. Very hilly, great programs, and the people there are awesome. We party with the brothers from there and I can say enough good things about them and their school. Even tho they are our rivals, SWT rocks. (Plus the greek advisor used to be ours and he KICKS ASS). 20 mins to Austin, and 45 to San Antonio. Best of both worlds. :)

Bit o' Trivia.... SWT is the only university in Texas to have had a former President attend as an undergrad and graduate. WHOM you ask? LBJ graduated in the 30's with a degree in education.

Anyway I say go for it, you'll love it.

TriSigmaTX 02-17-2002 10:22 PM

I grew up in Kansas. Went to Emporia State University where I became a Tri Sigma. Went to KU (Kansas :) for grad school and then Eric...my TKE and I moved to Dallas 3 years ago. We live downtown right in the middle of the big bright buildings.

ChaChiLXA 03-01-2002 02:11 AM

I'm at school at THE University of Texas @ San Antonio, but I'm originally from the West part of Houston in the Katy area.
