View Full Version : Greek Stuff for Locals

Hi all - this is similar to the post I put on the Greek Life board, but I also really want to hear from local chapters.

My company sells Greek merchandise, and we hear from a lot of Greeks in local GLOs that they cannot find paraphernalia for their group.

What gifts, apparel, merchandise, etc., do you have the hardest time finding? What resources do you usually use for your paraphernalia?

We are trying to improve our product line and service, and so any input you could offer as a Greek consumer would be wonderful. Thanks in advance!

Texas Alum, I just responded to your post in Greek Life. But, since it was hard for my chapter to find stuff, I thought I would give you some input here, too. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

For just about everything we went to a local Greek merchandise shop (that's located on Ohio State University's campus). They would require a minimum order (the quantity depended on the item) and then order almost whatever we wanted.

For example, we ordered lavaliers through them. Since the company they outsource to had to create new dies (or whatever they're called), it was a little more costly the 1st time we ordered, and the quantity we had to order was a little higher. But now that the die has been created, the price is normal.

Usually we order a few extra of any items we order, so that when new members come in, they can buy stuff if they want it.

The only paraphanalia we purchase through our nationals is some notepads & other stationary and our official jewelry. (Except lavaliers, nationals actually orders through us for those!)

A lot of small stuff, like picture frames and candles, we just made ourselves for bigs, littles, secret pals, etc. (The aforementioned greek store does sell individual greek letters for car stickers, wood items, beads, etc.- which helps).

I didn't mean to post this long, but I had one more thing to add:

It gets frustrating looking through online merchandise (or even 'real' stores) and seeing all this really great stuff for the IFC/NPC/NPHC greeks, and having to either spend a lot to get stuff like this custom made or just make somthing similar yourself. So I think it's great you're trying to do what you can to help locals/regionals in this area.

Texas Alum,

I'm very impressed by some of the merchandise on your site. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif However, I tried to download the banner w/ your business's logo, to add an attractive link on our site, but it didn't work out all that well. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

If you happen to have or create a button for the purpose of advertising on other sites, could you send me one at foxee7998@aol.com?

My local is in the process of affiliating with Zeta Sigma Chi, an up-and-coming nat'l MGLO, and so I'm in the process of re-doing our website. (Does the fun EVER stop? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif ) I want the new site to be even better than the last, although, I am not at liberty to unveil it until we finish recruiting the founding sisters class next weekend and become a colony.

Oops...starting to babble. LOL. I'm done now.

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Amanda- Of course I'd love to provide link info for you!

This is for a cute button with our logo, and will link you directly to the locals page.

If you need something different, please let me know! I will also e-mail this to you. Thanks so much, and please don't hesitate to call or e-mail me if you are looking for anything in particular - we can probably get it!

Texas Alum,

Thank you so much for your quick response! I did insert the HTML text, which I initially needed. Because of the way my web page editing software works (WYSIWYG), particularly with geocities, I loaded the page once I had inserted the text, saved the image, and then linked it. Hopefully this is OK with you. I will definitely post once we're done recruiting the rest of our founding sisters and the site can be unveiled...

my soror is pretty small and we always find problems with special ordering. we can never find pins and some companies won't copy our crest.

Hey, I know this post is old, but does anyone have the link for the OP's site?
